Most likely you'll need a carb kit. Old gas will ruin the rubber gasket/diaphram/check valves in the carb. Buy a carb kit, clean it and it should run fine. You might also have to replace the gas tubing, and suction screen in the tank and check the primer bulb for any cracks replace if necessary. If you can find a wabco number on the carb take that and your homelite number to your lawn & garden parts store.

Carb. problems sounds mostly like the carb needs to be thoroughly cleaned out, drop fuel bowl and hit openings with a tiny steel wire and carb cleaner also check the diaphram, sounds like its cracked/dried up.

Remove plug, leave plug wire on plug wrap a piece of conducting wire around the plug base and other end of wire wrap around metal part of engine pull starter and see if you have spark. You may have to darken area to see spark. If you have no spark probably bad coil or could be just switch has gone bad.

I HAVE A POULAN 2150 CHAINSAW WITH A WALBRO WT 324 CARBURETOR. IT WILL CRANK WITH CHOKE ON BUT CUTS OFF SOON AS I PUSH CHOKE TO OFF POSITION

test the steps and fix it. God bless you

Spark Arrester

Inside the muffler of most chainsaws is a screen-like device called a spark arrestor. If the chainsaw stops after a few seconds or won't start at all, the spark arrestor might be clogged. The spark arrestor prevents small embers from being emitted by the engine to prevent fires. Over time the spark arrestor will become clogged with soot. Remove the spark arrestor and clean with a wire brush or replace.

Carburetor

If the chainsaw engine stops after a few seconds, the carburetor might be clogged or have bad fuel in the float bowl. If old fuel was left in the chainsaw for a long time some of the volatile ingredients may have evaporated, leaving a thicker, stickier product that is more like varnish or shellac. This sticky fuel can clog up the small jets and ports in the carburetor and it can be difficult to burn allowing the engine to only run for a few seconds. The only solution is to drain the old fuel from the float bowl and thoroughly clean the carburetor with carburetor cleaner. If that isn't effective, replace the entire carburetor.

Gas Cap

The gas cap on YOUR chainsaw is designed to let a very small amount of air into the tank. This is necessary because as fuel is consumed a vacuum is created in the fuel tank. The gas cap has a tiny vent to let air into the tank and equalize the pressure. If the gas cap vent gets clogged air can't enter the tank and eventually the vacuum pressure in the tank exceeds the vacuum pressure of the engine, and the engine stalls. The vent often cannot be cleaned because it is made of a semi porous ceramic material. If the gas cap vent is clogged, replace the cap.

Spark Plug

If the chainsaw starts and stops after a few seconds The spark plug may be defective. Although this is not very common it is easy to test. Try removing the spark plug and installing a new one.

Fuel Filter

If the chainsaw stops after a few seconds, the fuel filter might be clogged. If old fuel was left in the chainsaw for a long time some of the volatile ingredients may have evaporated, leaving a thicker, stickier product that is more like varnish or shellac. This sticky fuel can clog up the fuel filter and it can be difficult to burn allowing the engine to only run for a few seconds. The only solution is to drain the old fuel from the fuel tank and replace the fuel filter.6ad91f3f-147a-4ac3-97cd-7e13c345e87d.jpg

Redmax ebz5100 blower stumbles/misfires periodically until engine is hot?

What happens if you play with the choke ? does it clear up or change, If it does then it's a fuel problem example : fuel filter, fuel line cracked, dirt in carb. If the choke does'nt make a difference then , try a new spark plug Good Luck, Let me know how you come out 2StrokeJim

I have replaced the spark plug and it will not start.

Hi, you can check to see if it is a fuel starvation problem by putting a few drops of fuel through the spark plug hole, replace the plug and if it fires or runs for a short period then there is a fuel blockage - try checking filter or carby jets.If the engine didn't fire then maybe check exhaust outlet for blockage (my leaf blower didnt start and it had a mud wasp nest in exhaust.

Good luck

Won't start

Starting problems with 2-cycle engines are usually traced to fuel line/filter clogging due to jelling of the fuel mixture while the engine is idle. Best fix is fuel mix pretreatment with some kind of gas saver in the gas can. Marine grade additives are the best, such as 2+4 gas treatment. Now your stuck with pulling the fuel lines and blowing them clean. If the carb has a primer bulb, you can sometimes force the fuel through, but a complete cleaning is in order. Pulling the plug and putting a few drops of fuel mix directly into the cylinder head, (or in the air intake), can sometimes get the motor to fire. This proofs the problem as being fuel starvation.

I just foun out that i forgot to add oil to gas mixture to my blo

hello, what you should do is drain out the gas from the tank into a clean container so you can add the oil to it and you should also check your spark plug make sure it's o.k. after draining out the gas try starting the blower a few times with out the spark plug wire connected to the spark plug this will flush out and of the pure gas from the fuel lines, after doing this re-connect the Spark plug wire and add your fuel/oil mixture and re-start, it might take a few times for it to start due to all the gas in the engine but it'll start also if your blower has a primer bulb you may want to prime it a few times after adding the fuel oil mixture to get it in the combustion chamber, if after doing this you still get nothing you'll want to re-place your spark plug it might be fouled out. good luck
