Question about Heritage (5BFW52NK4KG) 52'' Ceiling Fan
Bought this fan several years ago, but never installed until last week. Put brand new 9v battery in remote, dip switches are in same position in both the receiver and the remote. The speed of the fan will go to high, lights will come on all by themselves, when shut the light off sometimes the fan will stop too. Press medium for the fan again light will come back on. Is this because we didn't install the fan for over 7 years? Is there a 9v in the receiver that needs replaced? If so, how do you get the receiver apart??

I would try removing the remote part. Connect the two main (light & fan) wires direct to your house main. Then if the pull chain works then you just need a new remote unit.

SOURCE: remote receiver faulty
That is correct you need a new receiver for the fan. The other problem that could have happened is when you replaced the batter in the remote you accidentally hit the dip switches and changed them. That is the box that has 4 white switches on it. One is in the remote and one is one the receiver that goes in the fan.
