Hi There,

Go to this thread. Alot of people worked hard to put it together. I believe the Audio Driver a ways down the page highlighted in red will work on your machine.

I spent a long time tracking this down for you so NO "unhelpful" marks, please.

I wasn't able to find your notebook model, however I was able to find a M-7315u, which does not support Windows XP (which means your sound will likely never work under Windows XP). Windows XP is nearing its end of life anyway, and I would recommend upgrading to Windows 7 instead, as it resolves many of Vista's issues. I don't see any Windows 7 drivers for the above model, however that does not necessarily mean it is not compatible. When you get Windows Vista back on your computer, I recommend running the upgrade advisor if you really want another version of Windows:

To restore your computer to factory defaults, try restore discs if your computer came with them. If not, you may be able to restore a Gateway by pressing F10 repeatedly as your computer boots. You may need to select your hard drive, and then press F10 repeatedly again. If F10 doesn't work, you may try F8 or F11 instead (depending on your computer model).

yeah your system doesnt meet system requirement for running windows Vista Premium. Minimum memory required is 1GB.
Another system requirement is 128memory of graphic card with DirectX 9.0 capable and WDDM 1.0 driver support.
so if you dont have graphic card system will take amount of RAM..this why computer became slow.
If you have 'other components' you can take the RAM not HDD then install it..just make sure the RAM is supported by your current system..
I just recomend that would be better using Windows XP, with less RAM required..

P.S : see here for more detail about windows Vista.

Installed Xp pro on Compaq F750US and everything works except mic

When you go to hp.com, you need to ensure that you are downloading the driver for the appropriate operating system. You have to indicate whether you have the 32bit or 64bit version. It matters very much.

I want to have xp on my vista gateway laptop

Hello, Its really hard to downgrade from vista to XP on dell laptops. vista and XP use completely different drivers and dell has stopped writing drivers for XP. But still you can downgrade. You need to setup external SATA harddrive from where your XP CD should boot as it wont boot from your current harddrive that has vista. Even if you set these up and downgrade, Since dell has stopped writing drivers your new XP will not work with many new softwares and applications as you wont have drivers for them. I would advice you to use Vista. Good luck, Please rate the solution. ~regards, Jegan

Downgrading from Vista Business to XP Pro

Why dont you give Windows 7 a whirl. Im running it and so far i like it better than xp and it stomps vista into the ground.

If your wanting to downgrade to Windows XP pro, Your going to need to reformat the PC. Simply put the media in the drive restart the computer and boot off the CD-Rom and follow the simple instructions.

System crashes and i have to reformat after installing msn premium software on new 64 bit vista laptop

you can downgrade to 32bit. you would have to reinstall windows using a 32bit cd. i would recommend it you wont see much of a difference. all programs where originally made for 32 bit. the only difference between the two is that 64bit supports more ram. like xp pro; 32bit will recognize 3.25gb as ram even if you have 4gb installed but other than that not much difference. personally i dont like any 64bit systems nor vista... but with 32bit you will be able to run a wider range of programs with no problem

Downgrade 64 bit to 32 bit

Are you downgrading from 64bit Vista to 32bit Vista?

If so you will need to purchase the complete installation for 32bit Vista. You insert the disc into the computer, when it asks "press any key to boot CD" press any key, it will start the windows installation. Just continue through with everything. Be warned that this WILL erase all data off of the computer.

If you are trying to downgrade from Vista to XP you will need to find out if the manufacturer ever released drivers for XP for that model of computer. Most newer machines are not XP compatible anymore.
