Question about Dell Studio Xps 9000 Desktop Computer (Intel Core i7 920 750GB9GB) (DXPCPQ11)

1 Answer

Frequent, repeated video display crash

The NVIDEA GeForce GT220 video card in my new DELL Studio XPS 9000 with Windows 7 repeatedly every day crashes then immediately recovers itself.

An authorized DELL technician has replaced both the video card and the entire motherboard but the problem persists. Is this a hardware problem or software? Is this a common problem?

How do I fix it?

Do the re-installation of operating system. Then observe if it will crushes down. If not, then the problem will be the operating system not the hardware. If still crushes down, try replacing the hard disk. Maybe it has a bad sector in it. That why it crushes down always.

If I understand your issue, it sounds like the display works fine until it loads Windows, and then it has the error? It sounds to me like the video card drivers are crashing. This may be the case if you have recently updated them, or installed a new video card. I would recommend getting the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website on a CD, SD card, or USB drive, and then boot your computer in safe mode. Once in safe mode, install the new drivers, and see if that will help. You could also try using your onboard (integrated) video card if your motherboard has one. This could help rule out if the monitor is at fault. Just make sure your BIOS has the integrated card as a secondary video device if it the (I'm assuming PCIex16) peripheral card isn't found.

I don't quite follow the problem but, you have a low end card and maybe the game is too demanding for it. Are you having problems with crashing? Have you updated your driver? You can update the driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Product Type-GeForce
Product Series- GeForce 5 FX series
Product-GeForce FX 5500
Choose your operating system, language and click search.
You will want to uninstall previos driverbefore downloding new.
