Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

My ice maker, ice and water dispensers do not work. When you depress the dispenser levers that actuate the microswitches, all you get is the residual 'click' with no electrical buzzing, etc. There are no display lights on the dispenser console. The Control panel in the cooler section of the fridge is illuminating, working and maintaining proper freezer and cooler temps and the lights in the freezer and cooler cabinets are illuminating with the doorswitches open.

Yes it could be either, BUT I would go back and make sure that everything you did to stop it the first time is undone. Is everything setted correctly? Is the switches in the right place?

Neither the solenoid or the microswitch could cause the problem you had before, so I would suspect something is not right with the ice maker itself.

Replace that microswitch for the dispenser lever. It might not be a separate switch though, it may be part of the control board for the dispenser module. disconnect power to the fridge, remove the dispenser cover to expose the wiring, etc., determine what the lever actuates when depressed, and it will likely be the microswitch separate from the board.

Whirlpool refrigerator ice dispenser no longer workds

HI, the Ice maker control module will need to be replaced in your unit asap if possible. this module controls and initiates the actions when the lever is depressed.

Ice and water dispenser stopped working

Welcome to the computer world. When depressed, the paddle actuates a switch attached to the bracket above. The switch sends a low voltage signal to a small circuit board mouted right behind the display. A computer chip on that small board communicates with another chip on the main control board mounted in the rear wall. Your situation could be a bad actuator switch, a broken paddle tab, possibly a bad door switch (the fresh food doors must be closed to dispense), or a bad electronic control.

GS6SHEXMLoo side by side ice dispenser not working

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

Kenmore Refrigerator

check the mirco-switches behind the panel at the dispenser section. basically, when you depress the lever for water or ice, those levers make contact with a switch, and the switch turns on the ice dispenser motor. if the lever is pushed too hard, the switch can be knocked out of position. I had to re-position my ice switch with some duct tape.

Water dispenser

the slide switch ice - water may not be making up. the paddle inside the door operates a common microswitch to either dispense ice or operates the water solenoid. check out the selector switch.
