Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Will not dispense ice

commonly what you will find on that model is the main control board on the back of the unit is the source of your issue, it begins like a computer virus where the unit will render the water in the door feature useless, next goes the ice delivery sys, then the unit does not defrost properly causing cooling issues. But before running out and getting a new control board go by this check list first: 1) make sure your ice bucket is properly seeded, 2) make sure the ice in the bottom of the bucket is not melted together if so empty good ice in seperate container and put back in freezer quickly to avoid melting then run hot water in ice bucket to melt remaining bad ice afterwards completely dry ice bucket and put good ice back in and see if it works properly, 3) make sure the auger mtr is not seized due to door being left open and humidity freezing in mtr gear.

It's a Kenmore Model 106-56712500 , can't shut off alarm after changing filter, and now won't make ice or dispense water! How do I do a proper re-set code?

The 106.xxxxoooo Models are made by Whirlpool.
  • Whirlpool and KitchenAid - press the light switch 5 times within 10 seconds.
  • NOTE: If the fridge has a filter button, press and hold it for 5-10 seconds.

  • Changing the water filter should not cause the water and ice in door to not work. The actual freezer door switch will cause this problem. When the door is open ice and water in door are disabled. The door switch is a 3 contact switch. One contact is common, one turns the light on / off and one disables / enables ice and water in door. Manually depressing the door switch in the door fold hinge area should enable the water in door function. Do NOT test the ice function. If after you depress the light / door switch the light does not go out and the water in door does not work then the door switch has failed. The door switch is released from the cabinet by sliding either a putty knife or a knife blade along one side to unlock the locking tab. If the switch only has 2 terminals you have removed the wrong door switch. Check the other door.

If your refrigerator has the wiring harness on the bottom of the door hinge there is the possibility that during the water filter change the connection of the door wiring connectors was loosened or broken. Just check to make sure that there is not a harness on the bottom of the door hinge. If there is a harness on the bottom of the door hinge make sure the connectors are connected.

CHANGED INLET VALVE ON SIDE BY SIDE WITH WATER AND ICE IN DOOR. NOT SURE IF HOSES ARE GOING TO CORRECT PLACES

Open the refrigerator door.  Hold the switch so the refrigerator thinks the door is closed.  If water comes out by the ice maker when you press the water button the lines are swapped.

Have an LG LFX25960TT refrigerator with in door ice maker. The ice maker only makes 2 to 3 ice cubes at a time. (Too slow for my family's needs.) It appears like it doesn't get enough time to fill. Is...

Check to make sure the water supply to the refrig is good and the inlet screen where the water line connects to the refrig is clean. You can change the amount of water fill by pressing the button on the left side of the ice maker. (indicator lights above button show setting) Selecting "Ice Plus" on front of dispenser panel increases ice production for a 24 hour period. Ice maker should produce 6 cubes per cycle, aprox.. 100 to 130 cubes in 24 hours depending on freezer compartment temp, room temp, number of door openings, etc.

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

I had GE come out and look at it. I wasn't home to ask questions. The repair man basically said it was a 'loose connection' in the back which is where the motherboard is for all the electronics. It took him less than 5 minutes to fix and he was gone.

Thankfully - it cost me zilch. I told a small white lie and said we were still under warranty and they didn't ask to verify. Can I get an Amen!

No water or ice through door

sounds like the dispenser assembly is not sensing that the trap door is opening fully, so it wont send power to the auger motor or fill valve. If you are pretty handy, you can disassemble the door and take out the dispenser assembly and try to take the assembly apart and correct the throw on the trap door. Otherwise, I'm afraid you need a new dispenser to the tune of about $250 parts and $225 trip and labor. Good luck!
