When I start my Acer Aspire 3680 2682 I get the following Yukon PXE v5.12.1.3 (20060316) (C) Copyright 2003-2006 Marvell (r). All rights reserved. Pre-boot eXecution Enviroment (PXE) v2.1 (C) Copyright 1997-2000 Intel Corporation. PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM. Operating System not found leethedeuce Rank: Guru Expert Rating: 86.08% , 686 votes How long have you owned the laptop and how long have you had this problem? what happens when you change the boot order and try to boot to a windows boot disc? I would make sure your hard drive isn't defective/not working. Thanks, Lee Aug 01, 2010 - I have bought a new hard drive but I do not know how to install it, except for putting it back in the laptop. Also I have the Acer Aspire 3680-2682 not the 7520-5324Aug 01, 2010 - If you installed a blank hard drive that would be why it is saying operating system not found. You need to access the bios and set it to boot the cd/dvd rom drive and have a copy of windows in the drive so that it can boot to it and you can install the OS on the hard drive. Aug 01, 2010 - It was saying that before I replaced the drive. I will try to install Windows again and see what happens then let you knowAug 01, 2010 - Windows could have become corrupt. So i would definitely try installing the OS again and make sure the bios is set to boot to the hard drive once you have the OS installed. If/when you find this information helpful please take a moment to accept/rate my solution. Thank you and good luck, Lee Aug 01, 2010 - I will accept as soon as I get it up and running. Will is make a difference if I an replacing the Hitachi drive with a WD SATAAug 01, 2010 - The hitachi was SATA as well correct? Then no it will not make a difference. I look forward to hearing back from you when you got it working. Thanks, Lee Aug 01, 2010 - I am also going from an 80 GB to a 320 GBAug 01, 2010 - So I don't need to change the BIOS or anything except the way it boots DawnAug 01, 2010 - Correct. Aug 01, 2010 - OK I just tried installing Windows XP and it came up with CDBOOT couldn't find NTLDRAug 01, 2010 - So did you hook up the tv to an ethernet connection? Aug 01, 2010 - Sorry that comment was not meant for you. So you booted from a bootable windows OS install disc? Aug 01, 2010 - Yes I didAug 01, 2010 - So when you booted from the disc did the message come up to " press any key to boot from the CD" Aug 01, 2010 - No it just sat there blinking then come up with that errorAug 01, 2010 - Did you set it up to boot to that cd/dvd drive first? Aug 01, 2010 - Yes it is set to boot to cd, then hard drive, then yukon pke, then usb hdd, then usb cd rom, then usb keyAug 01, 2010 - Hello I was wondering if you had any other suggestion Solution #2 posted on Aug 01, 2010 Azraelsrl Rank: Guru Expert Rating: 89.76% , 904 votes This is a message from the BIOS telling you that it has detected a problem in the launching of the boot - no bootloader was detected. This usually happens when the Network is set as the first device in boot order - change that to the correct way, the hard disk first. If you have the hard disk set as the first boot device that message means that the hard disk has died. Junk it, buy a new one and reinstall Windows. Aug 01, 2010 - acpi.sys is the driver file for the power management - one of the first one that is loaded during boot. This is clear indication that your hard disk has failed - replace it with a new one, nothing more can be done to save it. Aug 01, 2010 - This is a brand new hard drive that I just put in yesterday. Do I set it to let the hard drive first although there is nothing on it. The acpi.sys is corrupted press any key to continue comes up when I am trying to install Windows XP Now I am getting File\i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded the error code is 32768 setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit

Thank you for contacting Fixya. This is Anil.

I understand that you receive error message when you try to install WindpwsXP

From the statement I understand that the error code you are getting relates to a bad boot cd and i think your only option is a complete reformat of your harddrive and reinstalling your operating system

I believe the above information will be of some help. If you find this information helpful please take a moment to accept/rate my solution or incase you need further assistance, please contact us, we will be glad to help you with it.

A "media test failure, check cable" means your hard disk failed. The bios can not locate the boot sector of the hard disk to begin loading the operating system.
"Operating system not found" means windows can't load because the Bios can not find the operating system (because the hard disk failed).

This is pretty much an unrecoverable error in terms of fast fixes. You can take the hard disk to a data recovery service if you need to retrieve important data or files.

usually, this message means that when your computer is booting it is trying get the operating system files from a network location (shared folder)

what you need to do is to make sure your BIOS is not set to boot from network.

1. when the computer starts, there is a message like "to enter BIOS press Esc" or any other key like F2 or F10
2. in the BIOs settings, make sure the order of the boot is: DVD/CD then hard disk. make sure there is no Network booting in the list

I was using my laptop last night when it just shut down on me, then when i went to turn it back on it goes to the acer "start up" like page before skipping to a black screen and displaying the following...

If you have a BOOT CD then try to boot and go to windows.
Or you can use windows setup CD but go for repair only.
For the future it is a good idea to INSTALL WINDOWS in a USB mini drive and boot the computer from USB. You have to go to BIOS and set USB default drive.
It is a good idea to clone your HD in a CD.

when the logo comes on, press the "tab" key. It should turn the logo off and show you what the computer is doing. This may help:

THIS IS FOR HP AND COMPAQ USERS (it might help others as well)
i had the same problem with my compaq preasrio v6000.

Or try this:
Go into the BIOS.. Go into the BOOT options.. and hit Shift+1 to disable the Realtek boot option.. pop in the disk you want to boot from.. and make sure you set your boot options to CD-Rom and then HDD.. and just wait.. be patient.. and the blue screen (for booting) will show up! :)

Crashed vista help!

it's look like you have a problem with hdd or motherboard.
basically, your motherboard isnot detecting your hdd.

try to boot and press F2 to go to bios and check your hdd in bios.
if it is takes long time to go to bios. most of the time your hdd is dead.
but it is fast and your hdd isnot detected in bios. it's mean your motherboard is bad.
