Communication failed with Lexmark x5410

A relative of mine is unable to print or scan. She has a Dell Inspiron 1545. She uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Disconnect the printer and uninstall all printer software. If you have the printer disk reinstall the software or download it from the manufacturers site. Then reconnect the printer.

Hello, You dont need another hard disk, because that error is from the software you are making use of at that time. It was deleting your system files without you knowing that. Just look for a windows cd and reinstall your windows and you will enjoy your system again.

My lexmark x7350 won't scan, it says failed to retrieve application, what should I do?


Try launching the scan from the computer. You may not have the monitor program running properly or you may need to reinstall the full feature software from http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=recommendedDownloads&locale=EN&productCode=LEXMARK_X7350&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US#1 (select your OS). Uninstall and then reinstall; this will cure problems with the driver/software missing dlls.

Try a new data cable and a different port. Try a direct connection if you use a USB hub or print server. (Two-way communication is needed for the scanner to work.)

Hello. Uninstall the software properly by going to Start Menu > All Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. Probably, the software got corrupted that's why you are having problem with scanning. Reinstall the software by using the cd only this time. The scan software can only be installed using the installation cd that came with the printer.

Lexmark x5410 cannot retreive application list


Hi,
This problem can be due to several things. The first one is if you have reinstalled your printer more than once then this could be the main problem. For some reason the duplication of devices can cause this communication issue. Try completely uninstalling your Lexmark printer, files folders, then restart the PC and reinstall everything again and that should take care of the problem. Make sure you remove all the Lexmark software otherwise you will continue to have this problem.

then uninstall the old drivers by going to control panal uninstall programs. Then reboot pc, make sure usb link is not connected. Start the install software for your x8350 it will let you know when to hook up the USB link and auto finsh the install.

Note: If you do not use the CD to install your Fax software will not be installed. If you call Lexmark they will send you a new CD for Vista 800-539-6275

Sounds like a profile issue. Boot to the safe mode, create a new user account, reboot and log on to the new account and see if anything works any better. If it doesn't then more than likely you are looking at a reinstall of the operating system. You should be able to backup your data in the safe mode.

DVD drive not working


check dvd drive if detected in bios

1. test any media dvd and cd, if fails
2. uninstall / reinstall firmware if fails
3. check if dvd drive icon is visible from my computer window, if not
4. donwload the fix here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us
5.replace dvd drive

Lexmar X5410 - scaner


Does scanning work when initiated from the computer using either the "Imaging Studio" or "Productivity Studio" software that came with the printer ?.
