Oven burnout after a power outage, my oven stopped working, but the stove top still works. all the digital settings are gone including the clock.
Same EXACT problem. After a short power outtage, the oven would not work. Top burners work fine. Seems like the control panel is burned out. Everything on the control panel, clock, timer, etc., does not operate. The oven is only 14 months old! The Whirlpool tech on the phone said to turn off the breaker and let it reset for a few minutes... no luck. Whirlpool Gold Electric Range GY398LXPS02
I turned off the breaker for some other repair and when I turned it back on the same thing happened. Oven does not work at all. stove top does and oven light works. haven't bothered to call repairman because gf had similar problem and it cost her almost $400.00 to have it fixed.I turned off the breaker for some other repair and when I turned it back on the same thing happened. Power outage could have shorted out the control panel. Call the power company and put in a claim with your insurance company. Tis happened to me & I was able to reset the oven, even with a glowing bright & dim panel. Thought everything was ok but the upper oven doesn't stay on & the oven probe doesn't work, but it's too late for me to file a claim.
Replace the clock .takes it out almost every time.most newer ovens the clock runs everything but your top burners .call repair clinic.com and order clock.(main control board.) Number is 1-866-822-0890 or 1-800-269-2609
It sounds as if the electronic clock/timer has failed and needs replacing. If you don't use the timer and don't need the clock it can be bypassed so that the oven will still work. A repair person should be able to do this fairly easily.
The clock controls the ovens. In other words, directly you set any time on the clock, a contact operates within it to provide power to the ovens. (Normally the grill remains operational). You may need a new clock/timer. Before you do so, try switching the power off at the main isolating switch and leaving it off for a few mins, then switching it back on, to try to get the clock to operate. You may need to do this a few times.
Normally Stoves stick a label identifying the model on the left hand edge of the lower oven. You see this when you lower the main oven door. it will probably start with a 05 and be 9 digits long. With this number you can identify the oven and obtain parts.
Hold down first 2 buttons with left hand and then press last button.(still holding down the first 2) This will bring up numbers 12:00 which means you can set the clock and also the oven will work.
my control panel doesn't light up for both ovens and the clock too. The porclain stove top all five panel do work... could i have blown a fuses? in the oven its self .
The oven is controlled by an Electronic Range Control (ERC). This is the clock assembly on the range. The surface elements are powered by infinite switches and do not go through the ERC. That explains why the clock assembly is dead, your oven does not work, but your surface elements do. You need to replace the ERC. If you can provide me with a model number (located near the oven door or bottom drawer opening on most ranges, on the back of the console on some) I can determine what type of ERC you need and how much it might cost you. Post back with comments and let me know if I can be of further assistance. I hope this helps you.
You unit is stuck in the "Display Model Mode". Hold the stop/clear button for at lest five seconds in insure the interlock activates. If it does not activate then the electronic range control (erc) is not functioning. Replace the erc (Clock/Display.)
