Bosch 2604320913 Carbon-Brush Set

No If the saw is running the brushes must be working. Maybe the front end grease has dried causing too great of load on the motor. if not the motor must be defective (lost a winding in the feild) don't know how much you paid but unless its worth is greater than $150 I sugest buying another

Just noticed my 5 year old bosch top handle jig saw doesn't speed up past 4 on the dial. Seems to only run at half speed. what does that sound like? thnks

It sounds like you may have a faulty speed governor. If everything else sounds fine, (no grinding or other strange noises) then that should be the problem. If there is grinding or odd noises there may be bearings that are seizing causing the tool to run slower.

I was cutting 2" dense foam insulation board,

The problem you have is a faulty field coil, the Bosch saws unfortunatly have a bit of an issue with this. The coil can be replaced separatly so you won't have to replace the whole motor. Bosch has a 1 yr warranty on thier table saw so this is a warranty replacment provided the saw was purchased within the year. If not the coil replacment is still cheaper than buying a whole new saw, but should really be done by a service center because of the level of difficulty of the repair.

Problem guiding the direction of cut with a jigsaw.

check that surface plate is square with the blade.don't push too hard,or force the saw,let it cut at it's own speed, guide rather than force.a scroll saw or band saw is more accurate as you control the work piece instead of the tool.

Not sure how the blade seats in saw pneumatic bosch jig saw i can get it to go in but the blade seems to wander and seems to be unstable

do you have the screwdriver that came with the saw? if not you need a longer straight slot screw driver and it must be ground down to fit into the blade clamp tightener. it is a narrower than usual screw driver. I lost mine and had to custom make one. good luck.

Can you recommend the best blade for cutting 1" marine ply epoxy laminate?

Marine epoxies that I have encountered have been on tug boats and may be harder than what you are dealing with but it all boils down to speeds and feeds. Easy even pressure will work best and if it is gumming up then you are creating too much heat, so less strokes per minute. Also you can compressed air to remove the dust and cool the cut a little, epoxy dust is like plastic sandpaper and when it heats up it just melts to stick goo then solidifies.

Also if it is a round cut, a hole saw at a low speed with the cut cleared of debris regularly works well, and if it is a large hole, apply the same principals, and use a Recip saw or sawzall.

Hope this helps!!

Hand jig saw stops cutting - makes whirring noise - then restarts

Jig saws are not made to cut through aluiminum espescially that size. That is really thick and it sounds like you have worn out the motor trying to cut it. If the saws are hot. Let them cool down then proceed but like I metioned before you are putting a lot of stress on something not made to cut aluminum even with a metal cutting blade

Problems with Bosch T101BR 4 Inch 10 Tooth Jig Saw Blades

Hi, The reason for a down cutting blade is to see your cut on the finished side of laminates ( which include veneers, plywoods, plastics, formica . When using an upcutting blade on laminates the smooth cut is on the bottom, which you can not see till you are done and turn the work over. Reversing the teeth allows that smooth cut to be on the top. This is usually done on smooth flat surfaces as you have found out and does not work with orbital or tight scrolls. As far as the pushing or pulling, smooth cuts in laminates require the saw doing the work at a speed that allows the teeth to cut and remove material with biting. So if you are biting, (This is a much slower process than pushing your jigsaw through regular wood) check that you are not pushing too hard and that your blade is still sharp. Good Luck to you, this should Fixya!
