When I turn on the dryer, it takes a few minutes before the burner ignites, and will only heat for about 5 minutes then the burner shuts down.

Maytag naptunedryer dryer heating goes off before they get dry

One of your gas valve coil solenoids is defective. There are two of them. One has two contacts and the other has three contacts. They are easily replaced and you can get them fairly cheap on eBay. What is happening is the one good solenoid allows the burner to ignite but after a few seconds the burner is shut down because the second solenoid is faulty. Its a safety feature in most gas dryers. Replacing them should take care of your problem.

Dryer heats for 5 minutes then no heat, but keeps tumbling

Perhaps the flame sensor is not working. If it does not sense heat, it will shut off the gas. You might go online and search for a manual to help you troubleshoot, or go to:
http://www.repairclinic.com/
for troubleshooting help and parts. I hope this is of help to you.

Gas Dryer wont stay lit.

It may be your dryer vent piping. If the piping from the dryer to the outside of the house is clogged with lint (which happens periodically) the dryer cannot get rid of the heat generated by the gas burner. When the temperature reaches a certain level the high limit switch opens and shuts the burner off. The switch closes again after the dryer cools down. Check the lint filter and all the vent piping for any obstructions and clean out thoroughly. This should solve your problem. Hope this helps.

When set on low heat is it proper for gas igniter to come on for about 15 seconds every minute or so?

Yes. Low heat setting doesn't use as much gas, so burner shuts off to keep heat down.

Lennox furnace 17 yeanrs old. flame comes on and the shuts down sometimes right away some times in a few minutes. We have the furnace go down to 58 at night. It takes all day to get back to 67.

Sounds like a dirty flame sensor.
Also 9 degrees is a large swing to recover. Most specialist will advise no more than a 5 degree set back, otherwise recovery time eliminates any savings you may achieve.

After starting my GE gas dryer , the burner fires and everything seems fine . The burner stays on for a few minutes and shuts off like it's supposed to . After a few minutes , the glow element turns on to...

Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.

Flame shuts down after 5-8 minutes

AFTER THE BURNER SHUTS DOWN THE 1ST TIME IT SHOULD COME BACK ON WITHIN 1 TO 3 MINUTES. WHEN THE BURNER TRIES TO COME BACK ON YOU'LL HEAR A CLICK AND THE GLOW OF THE IGNITOR SHOULD BE VISIBLE. AFTER 30 TO 60 SECONDS IGNITOR SHOULD FADE AND THE BURNER SHOULD FIRE. IF IGNITOR FADES AND BURNER DOES NOT FIRE YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE BURNER COILS #279834. IF IGNITOR DOES NOT COME ON YOU WILL HAVE A T STAT OR SENSOR ISSUE. SOUNDS LIKE COILS TO ME. HOPE THIS HELPS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTAT ME HUBAPPLIANCE@COMCAST.NET. PLEASE RATE MY RESPONSE.

Gas dryer burner cuts off after a few minutes of use

Your gas solenoid coils are bad. Replacing them will solve your problem.

After a few heating cycles the burner does not ignite

The problem you are describing is usually associated with a bad gas valve coil. The dryer runs normally until it gets hot, then starts making a strange clicking noise. After it cools down, the dryer runs normally again. The gas valve coils (there are two of them) usually run about $20 a piece. I recommend replacing both of them at the same time just to be sure. I hope this helps.
