Start the Windows Program Compatibility Wizard,
and choose to install a Windows 98 program,
and then point to the "installer" on the CD-ROM.

In a forum where this question was asked the reply from activision support staff was as follows.

"Thank you for contacting Activision Value Technical Support. The software was developed before Windows Vista and we have found that while running with Vista it will run at an unplayable frame rate. We're sorry but we do not support running this program on Windows Vista."

My wife has used Activision's

I would install it/run it on a 95/98 machine, print off all of your recipes and then use newer software that is windows 7 compatible. Here is one you may like:

Can micro cookbook 5.0 be adapted to run in Win 7?

Use the compatibility mode for the program. This will allow you to run it as if you had an older version of Windows. If it ran under Windows XP, this should work.

Right click on the icon and select Troubleshoot compatibility. The compatibility wizard will start and make a determination for your system.

I've just bought the Soldier of Fortune payback game, and have installed it on windows 7. is there any patch to make it run on windows 7? are there any other options to do this? thanks in advance

right click on the program icon (Soldier of Fortune) then click the option "troubleshoot compatibility", windows 7 will adjust the settings compatible with the games, a window will appear, click "start the program", should the program run, save the settings.

Wanting to upgrade old Mastercook program to meld to new computer

ValuSoft says that MasterCook 9.0 is only supported in Windows 98-XP. Specifically not Vista compatible. What's wrong with these people? I have Vista and didn't realize until tonight that some of MasterCook doesn't work right. So, buy XP.
