I am trying to transfer the pictures in my Album to my SD card. I put my camera into Album mode, saw my pictures and pressed the mode button. But the icon for Image/Sound copy is covered by a red slashed circle and I can go no further. What am I doing wrong??? I am using a Pentax Optio A10 camera.

I finally got it to work, using in part the clues that you sent to me. Although I must admit that I probably couldn't do it again without following your directions!.

Thank you very much for your help and your time.

    Cheers

Try to go to view picture mode..(album) ..and after that look for options ..select move to card ..try first to one picture..cause it may not have feature to move them all at once ...so ..open one picture..than options ..and select move to ..and than memory card ..
In the future..you will have to change from the main menu ..storage ..choose to store pictures in the memory card ..and not on the internal memory ..
You can even try to do that first and than try to move the pictures..cause if the camera is not aware of the card (the card was not formatted in the camera ..and not been chosen to be the main storage device ) it may not let you move them ...So first try t change the storage from the internal memory to memory card ..It has to have a feature like this in the main menu somewhere ...look for something related with storage ..

After pushing nearly every button on my camera and also erasing ALL of the pictures from my SD card, I still can't transfer my pictures from the internal memory of the camera (the Album) to the external memory of the camera (the SD card). The Optio A10 is a very complex camera with a poorly written user manual.

    Any more suggestions?

If you can send me an e-mail address, I will send you pictures of my camera controls as I attempt the transfer. Then you can see the buttons and the menus that I am trying to use.

The "Add a Comment" doesn't seem to want to accept pictures!

try like this ...get into record mode...than down from the arrow to the memory ...the next level in the memory will get you to memory settings ...here select the card ..and than confirm with ok ...This operation will set the camera to store the pictures to the memory card from now on instead of the internal memory ..
For the pictures already taken ..you just download them cause they can not be that many cause the internal memory is not that large ..
or...to move them ..go to the playback mode...(view pictures mode)...than select Iimage/sound copy
and than choose teh image ....and than move between the internal and card memory ..
I will attach here a page with tab diagram of all the menu ...for this ..and for better understanding ..

Moving from internal memory to sd card

According to the manual, you just have to put the camera into Playback mode, press Menu, then select Playback2 using the cursor movement buttons. On that menu is an option to Copy to Card, which copies all images from internal memory to SD card. I have not actually tried this myself, but I'm sure it will work.

Best of luck
