Hi,

You are correct. If the dryer will not turn off in the timed dry setting the timer is the component that has failed.

If you can send me the model number from the tag just inside the door I can get you a ballpark price on what the timer will cost.

Thanks!

THE WHIRLPOOL DRYER MODEL NO. IS LER4634DQ0 THANKS

  • Philip Aug 02, 2010

    Hi,

The timer is part number 3393934 and runs about $75.00

  • LINDA RADER Aug 02, 2010

THANK YOU SO MUCH. IS THIS AN EASY FIX LIKE JUST REMOVING WIRES TO REMOVE TIMER, ETC. OR SOMETHING MORE COMPLICATED?

  • Philip Aug 02, 2010

    Hi,

It is pretty easy, just do not remove the old one until you get the new one. Replace one wire at a time and it will go easy, be sure to the power is off before you take it apart.

I will be around to assist when you make repairs if needed.

ONE LAST QUESTION, I HOPE. IS THIS JUST A TIMER MOTOR? I HAVE READ THINGS ABOUT TIMER MOTORS NEEDING REPLACED AND THAT SOME HAVE TO HAVE A COMPLETE TIMER ASSEMBLY REPLACED. JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT I MAY BE GETTING INTO? I AM A DO IT YOURSELF KIND OF WOMAN, BUT IF ITS MORE THAT UNCONNECTING & RECONNECTING WIRES, I MAY BE IN OVER MY HEAD. THANKS

  • Philip Aug 02, 2010

I am sure you can do it. It is an assembly, only a few screws and a few wires, but they are terminal for terminal.

  • LINDA RADER Aug 02, 2010

Thanks Phil. I will order the part, its defintely work fixing if that's all it will cost. If I close this out and withdraw my problem, how do I get in touch with you again on the website

if I run into any problems when the part arrives?

Thank you so much for your quick responses. I was getting ready to get rid of the dryer because someone told me to replace a dryer timer would cost me about $300 parts and labor and no one told me it would be something I could do myself. I really appreciate your help.

    Hi Linda,

You can keep this question open if you like until you get the part. If not I think you can search for my name. We are not allowed to post our email addresses but can view those posted for us.

    Hi Phil,

Someone told me that one time they had a bad resistor that stopped the timer, have you ever heard of this?

I believe that your timer has run out of time! ;) Seriously though, Your problem is more than likely your selector (the dryer timer knob) is worn out. Time to replace it with a new one.

Good Luck my friend!

I have a LER4634EQ1 WHIRLPOOL electric dryer. Last week it started to shut down before completing a cycle. The other day it completed the cycle but the clothes weren't dry. It also makes a loud noise when...

if the noise is a rumbling sound tha that would be your roller's.the other problem sounds like a bad timer.time to think,do i put that kind of money in a 12 year old dryer or get a new one.

Changing gas whirlpool dryer heating ailment

Before you do that try this pull the unit out from the wall remove the venting from the back run a load and let the hot air go intop the house if it drys fine you have a plugged vent going to the outside and it will need to be cleaned out (This is the most common problem for long dry time)
