Here is web site for parts

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=225+L+%281994-06%29

almost sounds like the driving drum engagement end has rounded off or the end of drive shaft broke off at either end , or the gear head end is broken / damaged

have a look at the splines on the output shaft on the gear head , check the plate that engages those splines too

physicaly take off the tube / shaft assy from power head and check drum and clutch rotating , check drive shaft end (s)

if ok refit tube / shaft assy ( make sure engaged properly)
tighten mount bolts - remove gear head from end of shaft, start motor and run see if shaft turns ok with some rev s if so
problem is in the gear head

check out website good site

cheers paul hope it helps

Used 323l husqvarna weed eater. Head stopped spinning. How do I fix it?

you need to find what stopped the head. Did debris wrap around the head / shaft and stop it or did the clutch fail. Try to remove the trimmer head and determine if the drive shaft is spinning.

Husqvarna trimmer starts but head doesn't spin, made a high squelling sound but continued to cut, the next time I went to start it the cord pulled quickly then caught started turned briefly then quit while...

Make sure there is not debris stopping the head. Try removing the trimmer head and make sure the shaft turns freely. If it does the problem could be either the engine or clutch.

225l husqvarna trimmer stops after 5-10 minutes,no spark

There was two different units on this machine, a Phelon unit that ran with a three magnet flywheel, and a Walbro unit that ran with a two magnet flywheel, they are not inter changable, neither of these units were the best quaility, so you cannot rule out the new unit is also faulty, do a quick test to rule out the switch and the wireing by removing both wires from the unit and run the machine, if it keeps running your problem is with the wiring or switch, if it still stops you need to face the fact that the unit needs replacing.

How do you keep the shaft from turning when working on it

If you're refering to working on the cutting head without the shaft turning then you should be able to lock the cutting head to remove it. There is a small hole in the top of the gear head that you need to put a small rod in to jam the head from turning.. this inturn will also stop the drive shaft from turning.

I have a husqvarna 125L trimmer. I need to get the starter cup off. It's held by a coupling nut. How do I lock the shaft and which way do you turn the nut (left or right hand thread)?

Its a clockwise thread to undo the bolt, you need to put a small bar in the gear head tho to stop it turning. You may have the type of gear head that you hold the top of the shaft with a spanner

Air leak in the system, could be a damaged fuel line or a damahed diaphragm, blocked air filter.

How to change blades

Use a large pair of pliers to hold the turning metal ring above the T35 trimmer head. I used a medium-sized pair of Channel Lock pliers. Then, turn the trimmer head counter-clockwise and it should unscrew from the mount. There's no need to open the trimmer head for this operation. Then, follow the parts diagram in the trimmer user manual to install the blade parts in the right order.
