When I use the stapler, the staple doesn't go all the way into the - any surface. Is there a trick I don't know about? And yes, I did push hard.. thanks!

Not sure if you ever got a response or got it to work correctly, but there is a tension dial on the top of the gun, just turn it in the direction of the "+" sign and it should shoot them deeper into the surface. If you are using particle board, really hold the top down firm to the wood. The harder the surface, the more resistance you'll get when the staple goes in. That should work for you.

These are only good for light jobs; 3/4" max in soft materials, that is why professionals use compressed air staple guns.

How do I reload staplers?

There are two basic designs of staplers. The most common type is the Swingline or Stanley Bowstitch types. At the business end of the stapler there is a small catch that you need to pull rearward and the front staple head will drop down. Inside, you will see a metal bar and a spring. Pull the spring back towards the rear of the stapler and insert a full clip of staples appropriate for your stapler. Release the spring slowly so the metal tab pushes against the staples... should be pointed tips down. Put the stapler on a firm surface and press it as you would when stapling something. The two parts of the stapler head will join back together again.

My rexel stapler does not work, any help[

When you lift up the top of the stapler (as though you are going to put staples in), does the pusher slide freely back and forth? It might be getting stuck at some point and not pushing the staples (either due to a worn pusher spring, or friction). First (after removing the staples) try spraying some light oil on the mechanism and lifting the top part of the stapler up and down a few times and observe how easily it moves back and forth. Also, with the top open try GENTLY sliding back and forth a little - if it slides fine with no sticking, try loading staples and using stapler. If it slides ok, but doesn't quickly return to it's "normal position" when pulled so as to put tension on the spring, rhen the spring may be worn and need replacing.

I have a stanley heavy duty stapler TC110. When I put my staples in, they don't seem to be catching. There is some black part sticking out of the end where the staples should come out. It looks like...

The staples load on the underside of the stapler.
Step 1 Push down and retract the stapler pushup mechanism.
Step 2 Position the stapler so that the moving hammer handle is down
and the staple exit is up
Step 3 Load the staples into the chamber on the bottom with the points up.
Step 4 Push the pushup mechanism into the locked position until it latches, you will feel the spring resistance as the staples are pushed into place.

Just bought and tried to load my Swingline Smart Touch low force stapler. Don't know how to get it opened

I have one of these models. Just push the gray lock mechanism at the end of the stapler and the loading magazine will pop out. The chrome plated magazine opens towrds the front....it slides forward and backwards.

I am trying to staple screen on 1.5 inch pine frame with 1/2 staples, but I have to set them with a hammer. Am I expecting to much or is there a way to adjest it to run them in the who way /

I have found that staples will set well only if I use the palm of my hand to hold the front of the stapler down tight against the material as I operate the handle.with my other hand. Without holding it down this way the stapler tends to recoil a bit and the staples don't set all of the way. If that doesn't solve it for you, you could try using 3/8 staples, since the screen material is of negligible thickness. Good luck, Al K

I can't seem to reload staples into this stapler. I used the staples that came with it and it worked fine. I try reloading and it doesn't staple.

With the stapler sitting a solid surface, turn it 180 degrees so it is pointed away from you, and you are looking at the back. Press down on the plastic extension that you see (about mid-height on the stapler). This releases the staple-holding compartment (it shoots out the front of the stapler). Reload it with standard staples, push the compartment back in place until you hear a click. Voila!

I just received the Swingline SmartTouch Stapler, but the problem is ... I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO OPEN IT TO LOAD STAPLES. It's getting rather frustrating. What's the trick?

I can solve it!!!!!!!!! Remove the clear tape at the front of the stapler...the tape you cannot see, and push from the back of the stapler! Please note on the bottom of the box......it reminds you that this stapler does not come with paper or staples!!!

I have an ACE aircraft aluminum stapler... I bought Ace Heavy Duty Staples 3/8" 10mm Narrow Crown Arrow T50 staples but cannot get the arm to load with them on it.

Possibly you are trying to load it from the back with the arm out. This way does not work. With this stapler you must pull the arm out all the way and then drop the staplers in the bottom. Too easy, right? I felt like a dumb a$$ after fighting this one for an hour. By the way, it will take heavy duty staples but you need to match the item codes printed on the side of the stapler with the box at ACE hardware. Hope this helps... Say "yes" to "was this solution helpful?" so I can know that im not the only one who did this wrong :)

How do you open the optima powerease stapler to add more staples?

Push the black half-oval button at the hinge to release the staple cartridge. Extend the staple cartridge from front of the stapler, add staples, push back in.

Problem loading gun..Where do we put in the staples and change the dial to accomodate it? fred

The staples should load in through the end of the hammer stapler. The end is spring loaded to push the staples forward, so push the end - usually a crome square - into the handle end then move that part up approximately 1/4 inch and pull back. The spring mechanism should slide out so you can add new staples. These staplers take a specific size of staple and a certain number to allow you to put the spring mechanism back into the stapler. If you do not know the correct size for your stapler someone at your local hardware store can help you find the correct size and they will probably even show you how to load it. Good luck!
