That means that the hard disk has died. Junk it, buy a new one, put it inside your laptop and reinstall Windows.

No bootable device acer aspire 5250

This error message means that the computer is not seeing the hard drive or there is no operating system on the hard drive. In the bios does the computer see the hard drive? The unit may have to have the hard drive replaced.

Help!! I have an Acer Aspire Laptop. It wont boot up!!

Hello, "Suzy Irwin".
You wrote that this is the error message:
"Check cable connection! PXE-MOF : Exiting Intel PXE ROM No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".
Is that correct?
IF so, 1st, Good Job!
Most people miss the mess., then we don't have the info we need.
OK, "PXE ROM" indicates that the POST can't find the hard drive.
"No bootable device" usually indicates the connection to the hard drive, or the drive itself, has failed.
When it says; "Check cable connection",
that's another indication of the same problem.
So, do you feel comfortable taking your "Acer Aspire" apart?
IF its in warranty, or if you don't think you can take it apart,
AND put it back together again,
then you will need to take it to a shop or store that does repairs,
or buy another computer.
But IF you feel up to it, check the company's website,
and google the instructions for disassembly/reassembly for your particular model.
Your description of the problem didn't include the model info, or any additional info to further ID your particular Aspire.
They are NOT all alike.
Hopefully helpful,
sl0j0n.

Screen reads no bootable device

Your hard drive has an error, it has either lost it's boot sector or the drive has failed, If you don't have much technical computer experience i would advise getting a computer tech to look at it.

Acer aspire 5253 error message no botable device after laptop was dropped on carpet

No bootable device suggests that your Acer Aspire hard disk may have been damaged when the computer was dropped.
You should try opening the cover on the base of the laptop where the hard drive is fitted and check to make sure that the drive is seated firmly and has not come loose with the drop. See the Acer Aspire 5253 Quick Start Guide for the location of the drive cover.
If reseating the drive does not help, then you would need to find any recovery discs that you may have made or received with the laptop plus need to buy and install a replacement hard drive.

I have a acer (aspire) notebook. And a couple of months ago i was playing on it and it had a blue screen. I got scared and didn't go on it for like a week. A week later i went back on it said acer on...

No bootable device means your computer is trying to boot from a storage device and it's unable to find the operating system. Check the your system BIOS to see if your computer is still detecting your harddrive. To do this:

1. Reboot your comp. While it's coming up, keep hitting "Delete". This will bring up the Set Up.

2. Using the navigation keys of your keyboard, navigate to the tab that says "Boot Preferences" and hit enter.

3. Switch the boot device to your harddrive and save your settings then reboot.

4. If your harddrive is not being detected, it's either loose or has gone bad. In which case it would be best to have a tech take a look at your notebook.

How i can boot up win xp on bootable usb on acer travelmate 2413lc

1st of all plug in the usb bootable device. Then:
When you start up your computer it should say something like press f2 or f8 or something for setup. Hold down that key when the computer is starting up then:
1. Search through the BIOS with the arrow keys and enter for the setting to change the boot sequence.
2. Change the boot sequence to have your computer boot from the device first.
3. Then save the changes and reboot your computer.

Well, my computer doesn't start up and the screen says "Media test failure, check cable", "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I don't know what the cable is and...

The uProcessor can't find a bootable device and presumes your hard drive is no longer plugged in. Standard error message.
Check your BIOS for the hard drive listing. If it is listed there is no problem with the cables.
You will need your restore disc to boot from and repair your boot sector on the drive.

WIndows doesn't load ,frozen, internet connection problems

For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALt+F2 key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as your harddrive.
Also disable boot from lan in advanced menu.
Disable SATA in bios.
Then save settings and exit then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Acer Aspire one will not start. I get a error while initializing the NIC, No bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key...There is no boot disk.. Any suggestions please..

Hi,
Its possible the computer is trying to boot from another device, as the computer starts up hit the F12 key, this should bring up boot options, select HDD if it's in the list.
If not hit F2 as it starts and enter the BIOS, look for the boot option and set the HDD as the first boot device, hit F10, save the changes and exit.
The computer will restart and hopefully boot into the operating system
Please post back if you need anymore assistance.

Regards.

Laptop will not fully start

This could be a device failure. However, try flashing the bios. Do this by going to Acer's support site and creating a bootable disc with the bios or updated bios, if there is any, on it. Then run this in your machine. You will have to use a different computer to do this, apparently. If this doesn't fix the problem, then you will need to take it in and have a tech run down the device that failed.
