Hi,

"Unsupported Signal" means that your laptop is probably set to a resolution or refresh rate that yoru TV doesn't support. You will need to go into your Laptops video settings to make them match what your tv will display.

Right click on your desktop, choose properties then settings you can change the screen resolution there. Windows will change back in 15 seconds to the old resolution. Try the different resolutions availbe to you.

If the problem is still there then you may need to go into setting on your tv and click the hdmi to on
Thanks for using Fixya.Good luck and have a nice day.

well, I tried all the options one could every ask for with the sony technical support guy on the phone.

I tried different cables, different screen resolutions, different refresh rate etc. I also did several things what the guy(s) asked me to do. I was on the phone with 3-4 different sony technical people. Nothing worked.

Just FYI...The ones which you sent is the basic stuff that I tried long back. Thanks anyways

This problem can also cause due to the cable box.

It can be due to internal circuit problem (signal processing in cable box) or its getting distorted signal from cable company.

Change cable box just to confirm it.

if you constantly change between one type of unit to another. say between your ps3 and another type of device then you could have worn the connector on the hdmi socket. it may need to be replaced. thats the best I can do. we have a bravia but dont change connections at all because it can cause many issues over extend use especially if youre changing devices whilst the set is on, as this can interfere and damage the internal circutry which may have shorted out the hdmi circuits.

Message of Unsupported video signal after attaching laptop to TV.

it sounds like the resolution the laptop is trying to send is not one of the resolutions that the television can display. TVs can display a range of resolutions, so try changing the laptop resolution, either increasing it (make the pixels smaller) or lower the resolution, try a variety of resolutions, one should work.

HDMI problems with 40'' bravia

The HDMI reciever board in the TV is bad and will need to be replaced. You should have a technician look at it so they can get the correct part number using the model number and the TV's serial number too.

Hdmi port stopped working on sony bravia KDL-32L4000, when I connect my ps3 or direct tv trhough hdmi cables I will just get a blank screen that will say no signal.

I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.

Sony Bravia does not recognize my Dell Inspiron 1525

I have the 1525 and you have to do extra steps each time you want the HDMI to be recognized by the Bravia - too bad it is not automatic as it is with some. Anyway what you have to do is have the HDMI cable connected from laptop to TV then go to your desktop - right click on an open area (away from icons), a menu will appear, let the cursor hover over Graphics Options - you'll then see Output To...then you'll see Intel Dual Display Clone...hover over that and you'll then see Notebook + Digital Television...left click on that and you should see your desktop on the TV in a few seconds. If it does not work the first time...get your movie or whatever you want to show up and ready and go thru these steps again...stupidly complicated aye? when it should automatically detect and show...are other TVs like this?

Pc setting for sony bravia

'Unsupported Signal' Error indicates that TV is accepting the signals for Video but not able to display because resolution doesn't matches. Else the message would be 'No Signal'.
Follow the steps-
NOTE- Make sure cable is 15 pin(at both ends) VGA cable, working fine between PC & Monitor.
1.The standard resolution of laptop(any) which would support is 1024*768.
2. Toggle the display output from Laptop Fn Keys depending on Laptop Brand.
3. Connect the cable after settings made.
Also PC Settings will not be highlighted until connection is made.

Hello, There is an update for your TV at Sony Support and I would strongly  recommend to call Sony Support to update your TV as firmware updating firmware is risky job for novice and TV firmware can be damaged and TV will shut down.
