SOURCE: Error 0502
The printer head carrier had a sticking problem at the rest position.the steel bar was not sticking in the process of printing it was on the initial "take off" as indicated when the printer carrier first takes off to commence a print job. To test if this is your 0502 error report problem check that the printer carrier will slide along from rest position with no resistance if it does attempt clean of steel bar and lube with light mineral oil

There is a shiny steel bar inside the printer, and the ink cartridges
move up and down this bar to print on the page. If this bar gets
gunked up from stray ink or paper dust, then the motor strains to move
the print heads back and forth, and you get this error.
Fixing it is simple. Take some kleenex, and with power unplugged, clean the bar very well. Then Spray some WD-40 on a Kleenex, and lubricate the bar by wiping the WD-40 kleenex on the bar.
If this helps, be sure to hit the "thumbs-up" for me!

Dell A960 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Error 0502 and 0504
On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a Kleenex and the problem seems to go away.
Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.
Myself I would put a little bit of oil after on a cloth and wipe along the bar.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.
