Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Canon PIXMA 830 will not print from big black ink cartridge. This is normal printing on regular paper. I took out the printhead and soaked it in rubbing alcohol and also used a Qtip to clean the whole printhead. The test printout works fine for all the colors, except black. Printing out a normal page from the internet shows that all the colors show up except the main black color. All the ink levels are solid "red" and none are flashing. Nothing is jammed. I went through the nozzle cleaning and deep cleaning routine on the unit.

The above is for a Pixma MP830, I'm guessing that this is what you meant by the 830 model.

Issue: Black ink does not print
Solution: The Print Head may need replacing - MP830

Replacing the print head The print head may need replacing if, after all print head and ink tank troubleshooting has been performed:

  • The nozzle test appears broken or to have horizontal white streaks.
  • One or more of the colors is missing from the Nozzle Test.
  • The colors are incorrect on the Nozzle Test.
  • A print head error is indicated on the unit.
  • The printer powers off when the print head is installed.

CANON PIXMA COLORS ARE LIGHT

I would manually clean out the printhead, I believe for your model it is a separate unit form the ink cartridge. Please follow these steps bellow.

First you will need to remove the cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly then mix some water and isopropyl alcohol in a 50/50 mixture. You can either use a cotton swab to rub the water and alcohol on the printhead or you can soak the inkjet printhead for around 2 to 5 minutes. This should loosen the dried ink. It may take a few attempts and requires patience. Dry it on a folded paper towel and reinstall it. Print a test page to check quality. If the documents are still printing with poor quality, repeat and soak the printheads for longer.

Let me know if that helped. I had the same issue and this resolved it for me.

My printer canon ip1300 dont print black color, only color is working, even the black cartridge is installed, it doesnt print black

Hi,

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

When printing, print is has irregular & has white streaks through letters. Have tried "Print Head Cleaning" & "Print Head Deep Cleaning" several times and now printer won't...

you can flush the printhead on running water.

and have a mixture of ammonia and water solution. Soak the printhead and leave it overnight. This will unclogged residue in the printhead.

it will work again as good as new.

Have a canon Pixma 780, all ink tanks full but only prints all colours but not black

Black printer ink in Canon Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

Canon PIXMA MX700 printhead immediately coated with ink, smudges

It's likely that the foam pads that the print head rests on when the printer is not in use are saturated with ink. They're to the right as you look into the printer: a rectangular one for black ink and a square one for the colored ink. If you power the printer off and back on, with the cover open, you'll see where the printhead goes to rest.

The pads aren't easy to get at, but you can blot them with a paper towel. Gummy, half-dried ink dissolves in rubbing alcohol, and you can soak a paper towel or a cotton ball with alcohol and wipe down the area. I've had good luck soaking the pads with alcohol, then blotting them dry with a rag.

IP1000 cannot print black ink

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
