SOURCE: heat shuts off after few minuets of running

Normal 0 Hi, You need to change the coils on the top of the gas valve. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers. We have them for $29.95 on out web site www.whilpoolpartssurplus.com
If I can assist you further on how to replace them, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic

SOURCE: no heat , drum turns and wont shut off

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
Hi, On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

If the dryer inside light comes on can the thermal fuse ok

No relations at all......

Light comes on means there is power and your door is open.

Thermal fuse failure means there is no heat. No current going through your heating circuit. Most models and brands will still turn the drum without heat. But there are some models thermal fuse will completely shut the power to heating circuit and drum motor. Like KENMORE certain dryers made by Whirlpool corporation

My whirlpool dryer comes on and runs good but it wont get hot can you tell me whats the problem

Hello there and welcome to fixya there are several things that could make this dryer not heat up
Here are the most common things

Thermal Fuse

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, but the drum
turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer
from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is
blown, it will have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.

Help me find my model number

Gas Valve Solenoid

The gas valve has two or more electric
solenoids which open the valve to let the gas flow into the burner
assembly. If the dryer doesn\'t heat one or more of the solenoids may be
defective. If the igniter glows for 90 seconds but the burner flame
doesn\'t light, replace these coils as a set.

Dryer Igniter

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the igniter might
be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer
igniters burn out over time, similar to a light bulb.

Heating Element

The heating element on an electric dryer can
burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element should be
checked for continuity. The heating element cannot be repaired and must
be replaced if defective.

Heating Element Assembly

the heating element assembly on an electric
dryer can burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element
assembly should be checked for continuity. The heating element assembly
cannot be repaired and must be replaced if defective.

Flame Sensor

Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the
heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the flame sensor
might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not
as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.

High Limit Thermostat

Although not common, if the dryer doesn\'t
heat the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for
continuity. If the thermostat is "open" the dryer doesn\'t heat.

Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the
temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer doesn\'t heat it may be
caused by a defective cycling thermostat. This is not common.

Main Control Board

The main control board is normally not at
fault when the dryer doesn\'t heat. Check all of the other components in
this troubleshooting guide before replacing the main control board. The
main control board cannot be tested easily and must be replaced if it is
defective.

Timer
The timer is normally not at fault if the
dryer doesn\'t heat. In many situations where timers are replaced they
end up being returned. Check all of the more common components in this
troubleshooting guide before replacing the timer

I'd check to make sure you don't have a door switch that isn't functioning properly. Also, might be a control panel or control panel interface issue.

Does Not Shut Off

1st go the the house breaker (dbl breaker) for the dryer and shut it off and turn it back on, your dryer runs on 220 volts of power but if the breaker is partially tripped it may be only running on 110 volts which is only enough power to turn the lights on and to turn the drum the element needs 220 volts to turn on. If it still doesn't heat after resetting the breaker then you may need a heating element or thermostat. The dryer isn't shutting off because it isn't detecting the clothes are getting dry so once you fix your heating problem the dryer should start shutting off on its own again.

I have a gas dryer, model MDG7657AWW that will not stay heated. Every time I put it on, the flame comes on for about 21 seconds & then shuts off. I replaced the igniter, hi limit thermostat, cycling t

On a gas dryer the heat normally only comes on for 30 seconds or until the drum temp reaches 160f at which time the flame is shut down by the cycling thermostat. The drum temp then starts to drop. When the drum temp reaches 105f then another blast of heat is issued for 30 more seconds. That is how they work. Put it all back together and trow a load in there.

REAR PASSANGER BRAKE DRUM WILL NOT COME OFF. MOVES FREELY OUTWARD ON ALL SIDES. SEMMS TO BE STUCK TOWARDS THE CENTER

I have experienced this problem many times-

The first thing to do is to thoroughly clean the end of the axle shaft of rust and debris. Then spray the area with a rust dissolving solution. I have found that brake fluid mixed with diesel fuel (50/50)works well for this, but a product such as WD-40 will work alright too. Then wait awhile, and then try to take it off. You only need to use a very small amount, just enough to soak the crack.

If that didn't work, then take a hammer, and tap the drum, firmly, but not hard enough to break anything, all around the center. Sometimes just doing this will loosen up the rust enough to allow the drum to come off. Sometimes, you need to hit the drum all around the perimeter, from the inside, but, be careful doing this, as hitting the drum may cause it to fracture, or may bust off small pieces. All you are trying to do is to 'shock' the rust loose.

If that doesn't work, then get a BurnzoMatic, or handtorch, and heat the drum, all around the center. This will swell the drum, allowing it to come off. Don't heat the end of the axle, only heat the drum. Don't heat it up cherry-red, just heat it up to maybe 700 or 800 degrees. I know the temp. is a guess, it is just that you won't need to smoke it. You may still need to use the hammer, even with the drum heated up.

Also, check that the self adjuster is adjusted down, so that the brake shoes are not grabbing the drum as well. You can reach the self-adjuster through the hole in the backside, where the little rubber plug is. Then, reach in with a couple of flat screwdrivers, one will push the adjuster tab out of the way, and use the other to rotate the adjuster.

I hope you do not have a worst-case scenario- Once in a blue-moon I get one that I have to destroy to remove. But THAT is VERY rare. If you use these techniques, and are careful, and are patient, you WILL get it off eventually, without damage.

Once you have the drum off, again clean the axle, and the drum's center hole of rust and debris, so that it will slide back on without binding.

I replaced the Drive belt and two front drum wheels put everything back together and not it goes to start but doesn't click on. Also is the drive belt supposed to sit on the drum very loosely?

the belt is not installed correctly,, some dryers have a switch that shuts the motor and heat off if the belt breaks,, if it is not on the right way it will act like the belt is broke,, double check the belt routing, it should be tight

Gas dryer get hot but than goes cold

This sounds like a problem with your fan motor. The dryer is getting too hot and the gas is shutting off until it cools down. That fan keeps the dryer cool by moving the heat to the clothes in the drum.
You can easily check this by feeling for air flow in front of the exhaust vent outside. No air movement = fan problem = heat shut off in 10 minutes. Good luck
