My asus x83v laptop keeps giving me a big red error message, called tech support they just want me to send it in to them. On the same red error msg screen I've gotten the following messages in the left top corner "cannot set temp path to work in" ( got this one til I opened up my hard drive and found a short on the circuit board, corrected and reinstalled hard drive never got this one again), "cannot load imagex 0 from src WIM file", "error: [err=1392]", and error:c[1117]

Hi. For error 1117 please see fix below

This will fix IF you are running a personal firewall:

Enable the Rosetta Stone app to communicate within a trusted area. This lets the app send data to the computer that it is running on. An example might be port 127.0.0.x. You can still block it from communicating with the internet if you like.

In my case, I run the Sunbelt Personal Firewall. I went into its configuration panel, clicked on the Network Security tab, and found the Rosetta Stone Ltd. executable entry. Then I ensured that a green "permit" checkmark appeared under the Trusted Out column. Apply and close. Restart RS and the speech component should work.

Error 1392

1. Try to run the Windows Check Disk Utility via the command prompt (e.g., "CHKDSK D: /F /R").
2. Use a third-party data recovery application to recover any data that has not been backed up.
3. Reformat the Secure Files volume using the Windows Format utility.
4. Lock, remove, and re-insert the device.
5. Unlock the IronKey device, and launch the onboard Firefox to restore the applications.

For that first make sure SATA is disabled in bios. When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 to enter in bios then go to advanced and disable SATA then save settings and exit from bios. Then check if still same error then you need to repartition and reformat the harddrive with windows disk. For that boot computer with windows disk and then follow the procedure on screen then reformating the harddrive will fix this issue. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Yeah it was already disabled, I've been messing with it when I have time, I can now get the first of the two setup discs to load and the bar goes to 100% then asks for the driver disc, once the driver disc loads up it restarts my computer then gives me the original problem that started all of this... Should have told ya this part too... My screen froze and nothing would work, had to do a force shutdown, when it went to boot up it said it was missing a boot file and to insert the manufacturers set up disc and restart... So now I'm back at that same black screen if I insert the disc again it just does the same thing. Also I had to go to the bios screen and load default user settings and change the boot priority drive from hard drive to cd/DVD drive, without those two options I get the big red error screen everytime

The display hardware is damaged. Most likely you will need to replace your screen. In rare instances, this can be caused by a loose ribbon connector from the display to the display adapter board.

Asus x83v screen is black and has vertical lines on half of it.

As the product is under a year old it should be covered under warranty. Get in touch with asus customer services before you let anyone attempt a repair as doing so may invalidate your warranty

My ASUS X83v laptop wont start up, it keeps rebooting.

Try booting in safe mode...if you are able to get into safe mode without it rebooting then you have a driver problem, Try updating all drivers and see if that works. If you can't even get into safe mode, then it could be either, Bad RAM, Motherboard, Corrupted Hard drive or power supply.

To trouble shoot Ram, if you have more than one piece, take all out except for one and try it, if it works, then try the other piece of RAM in the same slot, then try both in the other slot, this will tell you if it's your RAM or your RAM slot.

Motherboard, not much you can do

Corrupted Hard disk, try booting into safe mode with command Prompt and run chkdsk utility on your drive

Power supply, make sure the battery is charging, if possible try another battery fully charged for the same model, remove battery and plug laptop in, unplug and just use battery..

Hope some of this helps you
