I have an IOMEGA Screenplay Multimedia Play &= GB. I accidentally formatted it and now i cannot play movies on my TV but only being connect to PC. Can you help me ?

when you buy a drive like the omega it comes with its own folder that contains config files and codecs...doing a complete format you have erased this so any movies played from the drive will not tell the television what codec to use, as your TV cannot use or find the codec on the hard drive it used to have. your tv will play mp4 video, so convert your files on the hard drive using "youtube downloader" (it's free off the internet) use the convert feature and select the convert filetype too ipad video mp4.....and ...select quality as original . convert one or two files and test it on your TV ...guaranteed they will play.....if so....go back and convert the rest...this time select delete original file after conversion, this just helps you not see double ups by deleting the original after conversion. guaranteed 100% works. 732973d7-ed19-4e8d-898b-1e752efd7709.jpg

I record movies on windows 7 media centre and can't play them on my iriver e100 player. I also can't watch mp4 format. What do I need?

Greetings - your IRiver E100 only plays certain .avi files and versions of Windows Media (.wmv) files.

To use your media center and MP4 files you would have to obtain converter software that would convert the files to be compatible with your player. Recording TV shows creates files which are incompatible with the E100 as are MP4 files.
For the TV recordings you would have to do as follows:

Forget the mention of IOS device above - you need to do the same step.

mikeywaf_40.gif

You then have to convert them to files that the player can use. I'm told this software works well and is only $9.95 (USD). Take a look HERE. (I have no connection with this company).

For other files (like MP4 files) you just have to use the converter software I mentioned above and don't need the first step I displayed above.

Enjoy your Video.

Why is it that I canot get sound on all the vidios that I play back on my TV from my Screen Play I can only get sound on a few ?

Hi Mary,
Please check the format of the video that you are trying to play.
this Iomega ScreenPlay Plus HD Media Player is certified to play popular DivX video, and supports many of today's popular CODECs and file types, including H.264, WMV and MKV, as well as plenty of others. (For a comprehensive list of supported video, audio and photo files. Most probably the video that you are trying to play is .3GP or .FLV.

For this you need to convert the video files to supporting format like DivX®, DivX Plus™ HD (MKV), XviD, AVI(Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), ISO, VOB, MP4, MOV, MKV,H.264, WMV, RMVB and MPEG.

Thanks,
Satheesh

I cannot play .mkv and mp4 files on my Iomega screen play pro HD even after updating firmware to the latest suggested on Iomega site . please help me to sort out this issue . thanks in advance

The lomega can't supported the .mkv and mp4 format. I think you should learn from me, I bought a cheap Aneesoft video converter, and I will use it to solve once meeting the audio format or video format issue. this software can convert among all kinds of video format. you can have a try.

Bad container message appears on screen and files are not played

The video bitrate (file compression) is to high and needs to be re encoded at lower bitrate(kbps).
Try these settings for 1080p: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1866/codecit.jpg

Bad container error

"can't play media (bad container)" for MKV format :
The video bitrate (file compression) is to high and needs to be re encoded at lower bitrate (kbps).
Try these settings below for 1080p with the ScreenPlay Director HD. If you are using a different ScreenPlay, check your user's manual to make sure you are using the correct output container because not all ScreenPlay units play MKVs.

Output Container - MKV
Output Video Codec - H.264/AVC Width:Height - 1920:1080 Frame/Sec - 23.976(24) Bitrate kbps - 1248 Hi Quality
Output Audio Codec - AAC LC Freq 44100 2 Channels 128kbps Audio
