Cannot access the DP- 311P Settings page using browser and http://192.168.0.10, using XP Pro, Firefox or IE8, Epson Al-C900 printer. DP -311p is plugged into the parallel port, wireless cofiguration set to Peer to peer

It doesn't have a socket for ethernet, only wireless and a parallel socket to go into the printer. It's a print server, not a router

  • alan471 Aug 02, 2010

Thanks. NOT a helpful comment. The manual deals with configuring the software via a browser, but not how to troubleshoot if the browser repeatedly times out and fails to connect.

Download and install the PSAdmin application from D-link (http://tinyurl.com/4oqnwzh).
Follow the manual and place the device in Config mode (dip switch on rear of device). Manually set your ip address to the 192.168.0.x range (e.x. 192.168.0.55) and connect to the WLAN-PS ad-hoc network.
Open PSAdmin and it will find the device. Configure to your delight.
Best, -Daniel

this does not help the fact that the network is not showing up when the device it turned on.

this does not help if you cannot see the WLAN-PS network

Have you plugged this into your computer with an ethernet cable, you need to use a cable when you set it up, after you have completed the setup, you should be able to connect through the browser wirelessly

Maybe if you just checked your manual. you would have more luck.

GOOGLE the problem and look futher than the 1st entry you get.

The people that answer the questions are just normal people that are trying to help others. Most are not I.T. experts, just normal people with some knowledge. I tried to help you, i thought your problem was with a router, not a print server.

Its very upsetting to get such negative responses when you are going out of your way to help strangers.

I am very sorry i could not help you this time.

We dont get paid to spend the time we do trying to help others.

I can understand alan471's frustration with your tone and previous query. You assumed that alan471 did not check the manual, as opposed to asking if alan471 did or did not yet check the manual. Think about it. Alan471 could have also explained the circumstances better as well.

I am having the same issue with a DP-311P. After connecting to the adhoc network, the http web-interface does not respond. The adapter can be pinged on the correct ip address, however (192.168.0.10). For whatever reason the http interface is not responding but the adapter is connecting. Perhaps a botched firmware upgrade could be the culprit. Will reply if I make any progress.

My home network uses WPA security. How can I use my D-Link DP-311P print server? It seems to support WEP but not WPA.

This is a very old 802.11b only print server (made in 2003, discontinued in 2006), and only supports WEP It also runs the slower 802.11b protocol (11mbps) and will tend to slow down your whole wireless network if you use it. You are much better off replacing it with a more modern print server.

If you insist on using it, you will have to switch your wireless network to use WEP instead of WPA.

Hello. I have a new Windows 7 machine and cannot figure out how to connect the dp-311p print server to it. The old directions for Windows XP don't seem to work. Help, please?

The wireless printer is somewhere on your "local network".

Access "Control Panel", and access "Printers".
Click "Add Networked Printer", and "browse" your local network to locate the print-server.

Tell us any error-messages that you get, if any.

Hello, we have a D-Link DP-311P Wireless and have had it for several years - we can not remember the password - is there some way that we can reset it....help please

The default password is SYSxxxx, where the xxxx is equal to the final 4 digits of the MAC Address

The default password could also be SYSADMIN.

If neither works, then the print server will have to be sent to D-Link to be reset. Please contact D-Link's RMA department at 800-326-1688 M-F 7AM - 6pm Pacific time about how to send it to them.

Is it possible to get a DP-311P print server to work with an Epson AL-C900 laser printer?

It should if your printer has parallel port in the back. Follow the instructions manual, connect print server to the parallel port and then to the network. Get the manual here:

Does this DP-311P print serverwork with a wireless

I ready all about your device here:
http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DP-311P

And I do not show that 802.1.5.1 which is Bluetooth. They do have a small section but it just states the range of Bluetooth.

The best way to do it, turn on your laptop/device and have it start searching. If it does not show up on the list, then more than likely it does not support it.

Have a great day.

D-Link DP-311P Wireless print server reseting

Hi Luis,

Sorry, it had been my mistake, did not realise your model does not have ethernet port at the back.

On D-Link printer servers that do not have cable connections it requires a couple more operations, you must do the following to connect safely to the server and open configuration:

  • On the rear panel of the DP-311P you fiind a switch to set server to Config mode. Set the switch to
  • Now go to the computer that is connecting wirelessly to the D-Link, go to wireless adapter properties, for example using control panel, and set the adapter to Ad-Hoc mode.
  • Change manually the wireless adapter IP Address so that it is in the same IP Address range
  • as the DP-311P, set the wireless adapter to a static IP address comprised within 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.255 excluding 192.160.0.10.
  • Always in wireless adapter settings >> IP configuration, set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
  • Ensure you click OK, or Apply in network settings Window, and restart the computer to apply new network settings.
  • Open Internet Explorer and type the IP Address of your wireless print server in the address bar. The default IP Address is 192.168.0.10.
You also find procedure explained at page 7 of the user manual here : D-Link DP-311P

Then follow instructions at page 15 to reset the server.

After you have finished configuring the DP-311P, to save the changes, you must toggle the mode switch on the rear panel of the print server back to “Normal” mode.
