First turn off ipod then pull battery and memory card from it for sometimes then start ipod without memory card then go to settings menu and reset all settings to defaults. Then connect memory card Then connect it ipod to computer then if still not recognize in computer then make sure usb cable is working fine try it in different usb ports of computer. Right click on my computer icon then click on property then hardware->device manager then uninstall all usb drivers from there then it automatic install all drivers. Then check. Then if still same issue then you need to run computer in safe mode for 1 time. When you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times then you can see safe mode and other menu connect ipod to computer then restart then check.Make sure ipod driver installed and working fine in computer. Try restarting the iPod and connect it again. If it doesn't recognize it try it on another PC, if it still isn't detected it is the iPod. Buying a Mac wouldn't help nor hurt the situation, it would just be an expenditure.

Why wont itunes recognize my ipod touch? why may

1. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems. 2. You may try this iTunes alternative, I always use it to upload music and video to my iPod once my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup, it's useful when you lost your iTunes library. 3. Update your iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod. I got this method from Apple technical support. Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question.

Hi, try these steps

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Doesn't reocognize songs and Ipod

Try booting it into disk mode. Do this by clicking on the menu and center buttons at the same time. When you see the apple logo, immediatley hold the centerbutton and play button down at the same time for 10 seconds. The ipod should now say disk mode at the bottom and have a check mark on the screen.

Then connect it to your computer, and format it using your computer. To do that click on my computer, then right click on the drive letter assigned to your ipod (should be like drive I: or H: or similar.. Then scroll down to format and click on format. This should reformat the ipod completely.
Once that is done disconnect your ipod from the computer and reset it again using the center and menu buttons. After it reboots, try reconnecting it to you r computer and see if it is fixed.
