Question about IBM ThinkPad T22 2647 Notebook

1 Answer

My T22 shows 512mb ram in bios, but will not boot. I get the message "missing or corrupt system 32driverspci.sys". If I take the memory out of the slot towards the front of the machine, it works fine. Either stick will work in the other slot, tho. It was working, but started locking up until all I got was the above message. With both sticks in I can't get to the repair screen on setup. It stops in the loading dll files and gives "error 4" message and stops. Like I said before, it was working and was pretty fast for a little PIII machine, but right now, I've had to disable my Microsoft Security just so it will boot in less than 5 min. Can somebody help?!?!?!

Forgot to add that I'm running WinXP sp3, but I've tried XP Pro (pre Service Pack and SP 3) all with the same results.

Better clarify this situation a little. This is an ebay special. No ram no hard drive, not much of anything, but did have the hard drive caddy and cover. It and the hard drive arrived before the ram did. Had 2x128mb RAM modules here already. They are a matched pair, new about 8-9 months ago. Just wanted the max for the machine, supposedly 512mb. Well everything worked fine. Thought that it would just get better when the memory arrived. It did, for a while. Then it started freezing up and then I started getting the blue screen of death. Pulled one of the 256's and it would work, could substitute the other, but not both at once. Right now it has the 2x128's in it and is being re-programmed. Is it possible to get two 256 mb modules, both Samsung (but with different model numbers) that are imcompatible? I really love that little computer. It's light, just about the perfect size, and before the memory went screwy, was pretty fast.

My hp pavilion 513n has completely stopped working! I need help!

Start the computer, and keep pressing F8 until you get a "boot" menu -- white text on a black screen.
Select "safe mode with command-line", and see if Windows will start.
If it does, enter 'CHKDSK C: /F' to get Windows to check the integrity of the file-system.

Then, find a friend with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM. Boot from that disk, and choose "repair", and see if the boot-process can "repair" your installed copy.

Laptop max RAM is 2GB. Had 512mb single stick. Won't accept upgra

the problem is the frequency ...you have to set into bios on the memory to read it on the lower one..so it will read both ....also if it is booting with both on but not showing into the windows properties..you have to reinstall the operating system to do that ...In-fact this is a standard procedure when you upgrade the Ram memory ..even if it reads it all ok ..you still have to reinstall...
You was kinda messy in explanations and I didnt quite understand what kinda memory you put in and it do not boot at all..but remember that this laptop will not read anything bigger than !G on one slot ..and ..if it reads them separately ...but when you put them together it is not even starting on reading devices..than you have to insert them and short the bios to reset all to the factory defaults with the memory in ...in that moment the bios settings will force to the lowest frequency ..in this case the one from the 512 unit ..

Game not working due to less video memory

Restart your computer and your friend's computer, at the same time. Press <DEL> to enter BIOS-setup on each computer.
Do both computers show _exactly_ the same amount of RAM?
One BIOS-setting may allow you to "dedicate" some of the RAM to be used for "video-memory". Do both computers show the same amount of "dedicated" RAM?

The memory I install to Armada wont boot

You CAN NOT mix 100 and 133 chips! It is not good for the computer. They may let the computer work, but it won't recognize them properly.
If you still want to use the new chips, try and bypass the acklowledgment. Don't know if it is possible, but it may be the only way.
You should be using the correct chips.

You can go to: 4allmemory.com or cruicial.com to find out what sizes your computer is allowed.

IBM ThinkPad T22 Series (Type 2647)

Since this is an older machine, the performance can't be boosted very much. The maximum performance you can get from this machine is 1ghz processor, with 512mb RAM. The 1ghz processor is the biggest processor that is compatible, and unfortunately, the system is base on a 100mhz frequency rating, so PC100 memory is the only compatible memory available. The maximum chip size in PC100 is 256mb, they just don't make them any bigger, so 2x256mb=512mb RAM. As far as the hard drive, it is an IDE drive, and you can get an IDE drive up to 120gb. These are very good and durable machines, just slow, so if you can deal with the lower level of performance, this machine will last years. Also, these are upgradeable to XP pro, but not Vista.

Problem with Mercury PI845GVM motherboard

fine ur problem if very simple as u installed 512 mb RAM on ur pc if at possible try to connect on to the other slot and restart the computer and check ur RAM capacity in ur os if it shows as same 256mb then ur have to change ur virtual memory settings i.e memory allocated to the video so configure ur virtual memory as per requirement then free up RAM memory ..

Steps for virtual memory configuration.

  1. Open System in Control Panel.
  2. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
  3. On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
  4. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.
  5. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, and type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set. If you decrease the size of either the initial or maximum page file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. Increases typically do not require a restart.

RAM Upgradation Problem

Your K8V-MX has 4 memory slots. The slot closest to the CPU is DIMM A1, to its right is B1, & than A2 & B2. Your memory should be matched if possible but in your case with 1xGB & 1x512Mb the memory should be placed as such. The 1Gb in slot B1 & the 512MB in B2. Check your manual for more configurations.
