Question about Music

2 Answers

My Tyros 2 plays additional notes when I play chords particularly in C, G and E-Flat scales. The challenge is that I am living in the Caribbean and there are nor official keyboard technicians nearby. I can take it to a regular electronic technicians but I need to know whether I have to purchase any spare part(s) to get the problem solved.

Firstly, the odd note occurs in the piano mode at startup as well as well as other other voices like organ and guitar.
I did some searches but the problem keeps occurring when I play 3-key combinations like the following:
    C1 C3 E3
    C2 C3 E3
    F#1 C3 E3
    F#2 C3 E3
    C3 D3 E3
    E3 G#3 C4
    E2 F#2 C3
    E4 F#2 C3
    F3 G3 A#3
    C3 D3

    Grateful for some assistance

This is not something that spare parts would likely be needed for.

The first thing to determine is if in the piano mode that the unit first comes up in do you get this problem. If you do not, the UNIT is likely OK electronically. If you DO get the problem as a plain piano at start up, then one or more disconnect diodes (small 1N4148) are probably shorted. This is VERY uncommon occurence. These diodes are on the contact boards of the keys themselves. Contamination of metal such as a paper clip or metal shard could cause the same thing.

The Tyros II has MANY features and a lot of these create layers that fire other notes when using styles as part of the stylle rhythm.

The keyboard split features that allow the keyboard to act as three seperate ones can lead one to think there is a problem.

I have two Tyros I and one Tyros II and have worked on all of them as they were purchased as damaged and non-functioning. I have schematics on CD and those are available from Yamaha America parts dept in California. They are copyrighted but they will sell you the CD with schematics, etc. for about $15.

I can help you troubleshoot the problem if it really is a problem. The first thing is to see if problem exists in the piano mode at startup. If it does, then try each note in combination to establish a pattern. If a disconnect diode is shorted, you will find certain notes interact. You need to find which are OK and which causes problems... Defining the keys as problems in chords does not help as we need key numbers such as C3 or F#4. Do the searches ONLY using two keys at a time as a matrix problem cannot be diagnosed doing three at a time or more.

The ACMP function doesnt work when I play, even tho it says it is on in the display window

Check you have selected 'sync start'. The ACMP selection activates the automatic chords but not the rhythm, so each note produces a droning chord. Sync start activates the automatic chords and rhythm you have selected when you play anywhere near the bottom end of the keyboard. Alternatively you can manually press play to start the drums by themselves and then the chords will begin the moment to play with your left hand.

Yamaha psr 1000

Hi
I'm not sure I completely understand your problem but......it sounds like you might be in "Fingered On Bass" mode. This means if you play a chord like F using the notes FAC- if you play them in 2nd inversion (so the order is CFA) the psr-1000 will make the note "C" the bass note. In this mode if you played ACF then "A" would be in the bass part. Change to "Fingered Chord"-this will enable you to play any chord with the tonic (the name of the chord) F whether you play FAC, ACF or CFA in the bass part. I don't have access to a psr-1000 but often with Yamaha instruments this can be changed by pressing and holding the "Auto Accompaniment" button. I hope this helps.

Hi, sometimes, when I try to tune my Martin D15, the tuner is just going crazy, it's kinda impossible to tune my guitar, wrong note appears on every chord I play. My Boss Tu-3 is brand new. I read the...

Could be the level from your guitar is too high OR low. Too low the tuner can't get reliable signal... Too high and the tuner will see harmics of the strings. Make sure you set onboard shape or EQ's flat. You CANNOT tune while playing CHORDS... A single note at a time please...

Hi, when I play a chord on my Casio-656 keyboard it sometimes sounds out of tune - if you hit the chord again it plays correctly. Is this a fault or a setting? It seems to be intermittent so that would...

I would check your fingering... You MAY be late in hitting a particular note and the using auto chord... this can cause the problem. Another thing is if notes are hit with different velocity that can affect the sound. Sometimes certain voices have VELOCITY switching which actually changes the voice depending on the velocity you hit a note.

If you can find the C-below-middle-C ?

Put your small finger on C,
your next finger on the next white key: D,
your middle finger on the next white key: E
your index finger on the next white key: F
your thumb on the next white key: G

Lift your fingers away from D and F -- to keep this simple -- all we did was identify the D and E and F and G keys, relative to the C key.

Press C and E and G (small, middle, thumb)
to play a "major" chord in C.

Move your fingers "up":
C to D, E to F-sharp, G to A,
and play a "major" chord in D.

Move your fingers "up":
D to D-sharp, F-sharp to G, and A to A-sharp,
and play the chord in D-sharp (usually called 'E-flat').

Move your fingers "up":
D-sharp to F, G to A, and A-sharp to C,
and play the chord in F.

Move your fingers "up",
F to G, A to B, and C to D,
and play the chord in G.

Go back to the starting position (C-E-G),
and move "down": C to B-flat, E to D, and G to F,
and play the chord in B-flat.

So far, you have C-major, D-major, E-flat-major, F-major, G-major, and B-flat-major.

There are more chords, but most pop-music is in one of these keys.

Give it a try.

A lot of left-hand stuff is just the small-finger and thumb, omitting the middle finger, e.g., C&G,
to avoid a too "muddy" sound.

Or, "stretch" your hand: C-and-G-and-the-next-higher-C.

When I load a floppy with music styles into the

Not sure about your particular keyboard, but on the Yamaha Tyros the style will NOT start rhythm until you select start AND hit a chord.

The style doesn't know what chord to start with until you trigger it.

SOMETIMES the style has to be moved to a user space...

One has to read and then DECYPHIER how to work these synths... Spend a little time with the user manual, as hard as it is to understand.

No chord will play while in fingered mode it is a casio tonebank ct700 model

NORMALLY "fingered" mode means that you have to "finger" the chord, that is, play all the notes of the chord. It sounds like it IS working as designed.
