Hello. It is code with all gas appliances that a shut off valve be located in the same room as the appliance. Carefully pull out the dryer and you ahould see the gas valve behind the dryer. If there is no valve there you will have to follow that supply line back until you find a valve. The worst case would be the valve at the tank. J.

You can order an LP conversion kit to change it over to propane. Most kits cost between 30 and 60 dollars, and require you to take the drum out of the dryer to access the gas valve for the change over.

How do I change the orifice on my kenmore dryer from natural to a LP orifice?

More and more, you have to change the gas valve AND the orifice due to the liability issue of changing only the orifice and not doing a complete conversion. If, and this might be a big if, a conversion kit is available, you will need the model # of your dryer to order it. The kit will come with a spring and a tension nut for the gas valve and the orifice you need. Instructions will come with the kit. Follow them to the letter. An improperly installed conversion kit, or just changing the orifice, can be very dangerous. LP operates at a higher pressure than the natural gas the dryer was built to use, and an improper conversion presents a significant fire hazard.

Changing a gas ge dryer to a propane----convertion package we25x10014 directions show a picture of the control panel with 4 plug ins at the bottom and changing out the last one on the right for the new...

Converting your Natural Gas Dryer to Lp is taking it from a lower BTU gas "Natural" to a higher BTU "LP" value. The orfice on a LP gas valve is smaller because you dont need as much gas to make the same amount of heat. make sure you change the orifice. The little plug goes in the regulator of the gas valve, changing the valve from a low gas pressure Natural to a Higher Pressure LP.

If the kit doesnt look right, did you get the correct one?

Maybe you should call you LP provider they can do the conversion for you.

If the glow bar is cycling off and on the glow bar works and the black box on the side of the vent are working, Either there is no gas to the dryer, doubltful but something to check or, You need a gas valve.

I would check for gas first, do you have other gas appliances? and all are functioning properly? Check the gas line and make sure someone hasnt accidently turned off the gas. If it is none of these you need a gas valve.

Go to or with your Sp Q model number, or the part number off the gas valve, it could be a five digit 58**** or 51***** number. Get you best price. Im guessing 80 to 100 Amercian

When replacing the gas valve, unplug the dryer first, turn off the gas, remove the front panel, two screws lower front panel, you will need a crescent wrench for gas line of side and a 5/16 nut driver remove wires. Now remove the orfice from the old gas valve and make sure you install it on the new valve. Is this a Natural Gas or LP Gas dryer?, If it is LP make sure you make the conversion to LP. Ask if you have more questions on this.

install gas valve, tighten gas line turn gas on check for leaks! with a bubble solution, start dryer and make sure dryer works properly.

best of luck

Lp conversion

You guys like things that go boom. My advice is to get a certified gas tech. To change the orfice to LP you have to take apart the unit from the front.

Converting LP dryer back to Natural Gas

Hi, The Vent hole is usually on gas valves to make it universal for other applications requiring a vent. If there are no open holes on your gas valve this nut is not needed. You could contact a local appliance parts dealer with the mod and ser # on your dryer and just ask them what all is included in the conversion kit. You may even want to purchase a new one to make sure you did keep all the parts and you would also have new instructions for about $10-15. It would be better to be safe than to have to worry about burning your house down. With the LP parts you are taking out, Make some notes on what would need done to reconvert and fasten them inside the dryer access panel. NOTE: If this solution does not rate at least (almost there) please do not rate. Thank You, kstfas P.S. Gas companies are very helpful about checking things out for you because they are concerned about gas safety and their services are usually free.
