Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My dishwasher is leaking huge amounts of foam to the floor. This is what happened before I ran the cycle: I had mistakenly poured detergent into the "Rinse Aid" slot in the inner side of the dishwasher door. After one or two cycles, I realized the mistake, and tried to rinse out the remaining detergent from the "Rinse Aid" compartment by running the cycle without screwing on the cap of the Rinse Aid slot. I found out it was a mistake as huge amounts of foam is being released during the rinse cycle. Please kindly advise what options I have now to fix this stupid mistake.

OK.... The rinse aid dispenser holds enough rinse aid for a lot of washes and dispenses very little each time. So you may nedd to have the dispenser emptied by a technician. If you take the door liner off you can see the back of the dispenser and maybe you can work out how to empty it. Holding the actuator in manually could allow the rinse aid dispenser to run out. Then wipe the tank dry with a towel. Putting high fat milk in the machine while it is rinsing will neutralise the foam. Just one cup will do. Good Luck.....T.

I do not know what soaps i can use for a prjent

I am guessing you are asking what kind of detergent to use in your GE dishwasher. Well, you need to buy Dishwasher detergent. You can NOT use the kind of dish soap you use to wash dishes with in the sink. If you do, you will have a huge mess on your hands to clean up. It will make too much suds, and it will leak out of your machine. Cascade makes a nice dishwashing "pod" that you just set in the detergent tray, and close it up. I like to use the pods that have both detergent, and rinse aid in them. You can also buy dishwashing detergent in powder form that you just pour into the detergent tray.

Why is my dishwasher leaking soap foam from the lower left area of the door?

A leaking dishwasher can be caused by excessive soapsuds. Excessive soapsuds are the most common reason dishwashers leak. Excessive soapsuds will cause dishwashers to leak from the door. Good dishwasher detergent will have no more than half inch of suds on top of the water. So any time your dishwasher is leaking from the door open the door, if there is more than a half inch of suds your problem is in your soap. One drop of hand soap, hand dish washing soap, or any other soap will cause dishwashers to leak. Now, I am not suggesting that you intentionally put this soap in the dishwasher because if you did the soapsuds would be from top-to-bottom of your dishwasher. Now if there are a lot of suds you can fix it by pouring vinegar or cold water into the dishwasher and running it, this will kill the subs.

My dishwasher is leaking from just behind the door on the front left(left when I am looking so the washers right) I have cleaned the area, made sure all pieces are the same on both side and it is still...

can be a couple things, 1 is your dishwasher could be on an forward angle instead of tilting backwards slightly as theres nothing actually holding the water back from pouring out the front, 2 your using to much detergent and the excessive foam is foaming over the seal (very common) try using half what your using now, 3 the pressure switch within the machine is faulty, the pressure switch is the device which tells the control board the unit has filled with the correct amount of water and when all the water has drained when damaged they will not cut off the water which will eventually overflow the machine

My washer leaks. Every time I wash a load of clothing, there is a large amount of water on the floor. What are the possible problems?

Front loaders use less detergent and when there's more than the recommended amount, they tend to foam up and cause this. Another issue could be that you're using He detergent and this is a concentrated detergent. The He detergent is recommended for most front loaders and you should only use the recommended amount or foaming will occur.
The last potential issue could be related to a water softener if you have one. If you do have one and you just recharged it, it could be making the water soft-er than normal and this would cause some excess foaming. Soft water is good, but the you need to use less detergent or it will cause this foam issue
Hope this helps.

Dishwasher control light blinking

1 Press down the overfill protection float on the floor of the dishwasher's tub in the right, front corner near the door. If it cannot move up and down freely, the "clean" light will flash.
2 Make sure the dishwasher's water supply is turned on.
3 Look for suds on the inside of the dishwasher and wipe them off with a wet cloth. If the washer's sensor detects suds or foam, it may not run. Use the correct amount of dishwasher soap, not hand soap or detergent for washing dishes in the sink, to ensure suds and foam do not form. Also, make sure the cap on the rinse aid dispenser is secure--this will keep suds and foam from forming as well.
4 Close the dishwasher door. Push the "normal wash" button, then push the "heated dry" button. Push the "normal wash" button again, and push the "heated dry" button again.
5 Watch for all of the lights on your Kenmore dishwasher's panel to turn on and then turn off. The washer may start a new wash cycle at this point; if you do not want it to do so, press the "cancel" button. Otherwise, allow the dishwasher to run through this cycle.

During the dishwash cycle (approx third of way through) soapy water spills out of either side of the machine onto the floor - wash then carrys on as normal and completes

It is possilbe you are not using the correct detergent for this dishwasher. Please check user manual for correct detergent type.

I don't have the model no. of your dishwasher. Generally the compact dishwashers cannot tolerate tablet type detergent.

Also if the dishwasher has got flood control circuit, then it will soon trigger and stop the dishwasher if it is constantly spewing the foam. Best to replace the detergent.

Hope this helps. Please rate the solution to help fixya serve you better in future.

Has a bad oder

There are a few ways that people use to clean a smelly dishwasher .. First check the strainer at the bottom of the dishwasher for any food residue .. remove that before treating the washer .. then you can do some or one or all of these to see what works for you
If the strainer is messy, pour a good layer of baking soda in the strainer , then pour in some vinegar, it will foam and clean the strainer .. periodically adding vinegar until the foaming stops.
Put a cup or two of vinegar in the washer and run an empty cycle , use it on hot water cycle.
Put in some bleach and run an empty cycle
Put some lemonaide mix in the washer and run it ..

Good luck

Palmolive liquid detergent was put in rinse aid recepticle.

I don't understand your question. But, I am going to try to answer based on a "given" I picked. Please read on.

Is the problem you put non dish washing soap into the dishwasher?

... and you want to remove it (soap) without removing ...

the receptacle?

the machine?

If you have non dishwashing soap in a dishwasher, the BIG problem is the suds, followed by the soap is not effective, and it cannot necessarily be removed from the dishes. The suds go from a couple little drops of soap to enough suds to fill Grand Central Station, including your kitchen. Am I close?

What I did when (I did it) this happened is, I put a product called "Anti-Foam" (I just HAPPEN to have a hot-tub) into the dishwasher which killed the suds. I cleaned the mess up off the floor, ran the rinse cycle only, dishwasher empty. Then, I ran the dishwasher again with dishwasher soap to make sure it was clean. THEN, I took the non dishwasher soap out of the cupboard where it sat next to the dishwasher soap and put it elsewhere!

So, what should you do? Go to the pool and hot tub place near you and get a small bottle of "Anti Foam" and do as I did. Expect to pay about $10.00 for the bottle.

Alterntively, you could remove the lower basket, sop as much water out as you can and then run the machine on a rinse cycle to see what happens.

While at the pool place, you might find a hot tub you like. Hey, you already have some of the chemical!

My dishwasher has been producing so much foam that it leaks out on to the floor. This has not happened before in the fifteen years we have had the machine. The detergent is the same so how do I stop the...

foam can only come from the detergent!! usual reason is that somebody has used washing up fluid - you may not have known. to get rid of the foam, put on a wash cycle and sprinkle some salt on the foam
