Your controller board has gone bad, check with the dealer you bought it from and see if its under warranty, and/or they have a replacement board.

Hi, I have a pentair minimax 250 pool heater and the burners will not stay lit. The pilot stays lit but burners will not kick in. I have it jumpered on the gas valve to heat the pool but I feel very...

first of all dont jumper the gas valve! if the pilot stayson and the burners wont fire there a a few reasons for that. one of your safeties are open.....malfunctioning potentiometer ( tstat control)......or theres a short or voltage drop through the circuit. ur pilot generator should have around 400 dc millivolts. if you follow the path in the circuit and anything drops to the 200dc mark then theres a problem. make sure ur electrical connectors are tight. millivolt models are garbage, as it takes very little to interupt the circuit

ok is millivolt heater need to check all the safety circuit are getting power ,also check for clean filter ? is the water pressure switch inside the heater is closed ? did u check if the pilot generator is generating more the 600MV ? also check for any loose wire connection ,a 9 volt battery generated more voltage that u pilot generator

I just replaced the pilot generator on a jandy lite2 and the pilot stays on but the burner will not light. I am getting over 500 millivolts at the gas valve. Any ideas? Thanks

500 millivolts is good to fired that heater, the minimum is 250. disconnect the wires connect to the gas valve be very carefulland see if the pilot stay on, if stay on get a piece the solid copper wire and jump the gas valve where the wires from the safety switches were connected and see if the heater fired. but before that check everi wire and safety switches for resistem ,also you water pressure switch, but also for any loose connection .

Replaced board on heater and pressure switch heil furnace still wont start is it smart valve

Hi, if you have replaced the control board and pressure switch, you need to check the sequence of operation. Starting with the inducer motor, must start up to pressurize unit box and be sure the pressure switch is closed. Even though you have replaced this switch, it may not have enough pressure to close it due to condensation in hose, a leak and so on. Jump across this switch to see if the pilot will light next. If this unit has a flame roll out switch located by the corner burner, make sure it is not tripped. Sequence of operation is, first your inducer motor will start and vent old gases and build pressure. Pressure switch will make and send signal to ignitor board to start pilot. If you have a HSI pilot, (Hot surface ignition ) it will glow. Next it gets the flame sensor hot enough to send a signal that the pilot is proved back to the board to fire the main gas smart valve with 24 volts. Go through this check as I have layed out. The flame sensor is right along side of the pilot tube and if the metal tip gets dirty, it will not fire. You can clean it with sanding cloth or fine steel wool to clean. If you go through all of these steps and it will not fire after you have made sure you have 24 volts ac at all controls in the sequence I have said, check the main gas valve across terminal C and MV for 24volts. If you have 24volts and it won't open the valve, it is faulty. Check this out for me and let me know. If no 24 volts, you have missed a safety in the sequence.

Pilot wont stay lit when i release push down button on gas valve

Are you certain you are connecting the generator to the correct terminals? Is the pilot head partially blocked not allowing the flame to reach the generator even though the pilot is lit? Can you read the millivolts on the generator leads? Is the reading 400mV or higher? I assume it will be with a new generator but if it is not then the flame is not across the generator as it should be. If it is, be certain you are connecting the two leads properly and in the correct order. The generator has polarity so it needs to be connected to the valve properly. The tag up inside the heater should give you the correct locations for the white and red wires on the valve.

The heater does absolutely nothing when you turn it on. Hit the switch and nothing happens. No noise from the pilot light, no flame, nothing. Its a Raypak Versa that's approximately 23 years old. Is it...

Unless there is water running out of the inside it is always repairable. You can start by pulling the burner tray and cleaning the unit and the burners. Also pull the wires and clean the leads and contacts. At 23 the heater is probally a milivolt run heater so a small drop in power can stop the heater from working. Often the problem will be the pilot generator or the gas valve. The generator should delevop 1/2 a volt to run the heater. This can be measured with a milivolt meter. You should get 500-700mv from the generator. If you get that and have no pilot you may need a gas valve and if not you probally need a new pilot generator and it would be best to replace the whole pilot assembly. If you live in Calif. or someplace that makes standing pilot obsolet you can probally find these parts on line through Ray-Pak.
But before starting check the filter to be sure it's clean. If you have had the pool for 23 years that goes without saying but I have to say it anyway.
After that you can use a jump wire and isolate each itim in the saftey circut (thermostat, high limits, presure switch...) just follow the wire when it leaves the gas valve and follow it to each item and jump across. If you find one of these itims to be the culpret it is just a simptom and their is probally another problem and the part just keeps the heater from working so as to keep it safe from that problem. Good luck and let me know what you find and we can go further if need be.

Laars LG 250,000 Bypassed Safty's But NO Burner Light

Have you checked your pilot generator voltage while everything is connected properly? You may have a shorted wire or limit or even thermostat. If you jump the TH connections on the gas valve, it would lead to shorted, inoperable safety, thermostat.

If everything is connected properly, the MV reading should be 500+, less than this and you are losing power somewhere.

Pilot on main burner won't light.

30 ohms is too high. You generally need it close to or below 1. You need to read the ohms across each switch to find the connection or switch that is holding up your control voltage from opening the valve. If that still doesn't work, jump the th terminals on the valve and see if the valve even opens. You may need a new valve.

Pool heater pilot lights, goes out when heat called for

No, that would just cause you to have huge flame. There is another high pressure switch located next to the flame sensor/ pilot genator that can cause this problem it is the size of a quarter and is screwed down with 2 phillip head screws
