Question about Lowrance 108-208 FISHING HOT SPOTS PRO MAPS Maps Software

3 Answers

I purchased the Fishing Hot Spots - Pro for my Eagle FishElite 640c. I am not able to find any "Hot Spots" on the map. I was told the map should show (i) for hot spots but there are none on the map..

I purchased this card for use with my Eagle FishElite 640c.

I have used the card for the last 3 weekends on Richland Chambers. The Map screen now shows detail of the lake bottom/contours, as well as submerged roads, airstrip, oil wells, foundations etc. So I'm assuming the card is functioning normally. However, I am not able to find anything on the map for Fishing Hot Spots. I though there would be indicators all over the lake designating Fishing Hot Spots?

Am I doing something wrong? I was lead to believe that the Hot Spots would be on the map display automatically.

Please advise what I might be doing wrong or clarify whether I should be able to see hot spots or not. The documentation on the web site shows Richland Chambers as a Fishing Hot Spot lake, so I'm confused as to why I'm not seeing anything.

How to Use Lowrance Fishing Hot Spots

Lowrance Hot Spots are memory cards containing fishing information on the lakes
and waterways of the United States. Cards are available for four different regions
including the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western states. Cards are available
that contain all four regions. Information on the Hot Spot cards includes depth contours,
Lowrance's MapCreate Series-7 urban and rural land and water detail including roads,
highways and searchable points of interest.
The Hot Spot cards are designed to be used with Lowrance GPS and fish finders.

Things You’ll Need:

* Lowrance Hot Spots SMC Maps
* Lowrance Fish Finder
* Boat

Insert the Hot Spot Cards

step 1
Look on your Lowrance fish finder for the SD Memory Card slot. Locations vary on model and make. Consult the user manual of your model should you not know where to look. Insert the Hot Spot card into the SD slot. Turn on the unit and wait for the display to come up.
Step 2
Locate the lake and area you are fishing and press the location button. Watch as this brings up a detailed map of your lake. Check to see the GPS function of your unit is receiving signals from satellites. Let the unit sync the GPS satellite information with the maps by waiting until the unit reads "receiving."
Step 3
Read the depth contours of the lake bottom. Search for fish with the detailed maps and GPS signals, and with the sonar signals from the transducer coming into the fish finder. Look for deep pockets on the depth contours along the shores or vegetation of the lake to locate fish.
Step 4
Calibrate the GPS/fish finder to the same datum as a paper map if you are using a combination. Lowrance Hot Spots use NAD27 datum. Consult your GPS fish finder manual on how to set your unit's datum to mesh with the Hot Spot.
Step 5
Keep a printed copy of the legend of the Hot Spots next to the display of the GPS/fish finder. Consult the legend
when new displays are on the map display screen.

Tips & Warnings

Print or laminate a copy of the legend from the Hot Spots. Keep this next to the display screen to consult when fishing and using the Hot Spot maps.

Hi! Please try this. Try turning off and on the unit and see how it goes. Sometimes it just needs to be refreshed for it to appear. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Typically the "Hot Spots" are the ones you find and set into the unit. Once set you can retrieve the hot spots and go directly to the position indicated.
Consider if 1000 of these units were sold and were used at 1000 different locations and each location had 100 hot spots, the unit would need to display (i) 100,000 times.

Why would they have a sample on their web site?

    http://www2.lowrance.com/Products/Mappin...

They even highlight the fact that they provide fishery data icon, fishing tips icon, fishing area information icons, etc.

I though someone might say I'm not accessing the data properly on my Eagle 640c.

The ad is somewhat confusing. What they show and provide is information regarding established fishing areas, probably provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency (which is a agency within the department of the interior). This information is most likely available to anyone who asks.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!
