Just remove the screw, pop the brush off, and clean out the ick that's built up underneath. When you put the brush back on, SNAP it on before you screw it in, or it will fall right back off. If it still doesn't turn, call customer support and let them know your module isn't working. 1-877-855-8593.

your belt is worn and stretched out.contact your local vacuum repair shop and they should have a spare.tell them the model#

This may have something to do with the brush. The bristles may be worn down and not touching the floor. Turn your vacuum cleaner upside down and run the long side of a ruler along the bottom of the vacuum cleaner head. If the bristles don't touch the ruler, replace the brush. Also, most brushes have a belt that turns it. Be sure the belt is not broken. Turn the brush by hand and make sure it turns easily. There may be a bunch of hair, string, whatever that is binding it up. Last, while you've got it upside down, turn the vacuum cleaner on and make sure the brush spins. Stand back when you do this!! It may throw a little rock or something at you. Then turn it right side up and listen to see that it keeps spinning.

Good luck.

Brush not turning

The belt doesn't have to be broken to be non-functioning. If the belt is intact but stretched it won't turn the brush. You can get belts here:

On the DC14 the brush bar is not spinning. The belt is still attached and there is suction. Any ideas ?

Even though the belt is intact it can still be stretched and worn and that would cause the brush to not turn. Here is the belt you need:

Belt not moving how do you check it

The belt should be replaced yearly so if you haven't changed it recently, I would. You might find that the belt is still intact, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the belt is okay. Even though the belt is intact it can still be stretched and if it is it will slip and not turn the brush properly. To access the belt turn the machine over and remove the (3) screws over the roller brush cover. There is also a clutch belt that should be replaced periodically, you should check that too. Sweeper Brush doesn't turn.

Could be that too much hair, string, or long fibers have been collecting around the roller. Remove it and clean it off. Also check the duct behind roller that goes up into the connection hose. Ther most likely is some sort of blockage.

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.
