Question about Kenmore 46472 Front Load Washer

Open Question

I have a kenmore 110.46472501. It is not spinning. The diagnostic shows "Add a Garment", which would be F01 - CCU problem, but it goes through the whole cylcle, drains, but does not spin. Could it be a coupler problem or is it really a CCU that needs replacing? Thanks!!

SOURCE: F01 and add a garment light on

Check the pump first but you most in likley have a bad circut board. On the front of the washer their is a kick panel. Remove the 3 screws on the bottom and remove it. Taped on the inside is a book of codes and some self diagnostics you can run. This is all your repairman will do and he will order the circut board and charge you more than the washer is worth.

SOURCE: Kenmore HE2 Plus Washer CCU

Hello,

Welcome to Fixya.

The central control unit, aka "CCU" is the control located to the right of the main console when you remove the top. ( approaching from the front )

The part number you want is W10205848 as listed by "searspartsdirect.com". ( Also available at many on-line vendors such as "repairclinic.com" which use there own stock number 1547531 )

I do see a fair bit of these since I am presently a Sears service technician ( after being independent for over 15 yrs. it`s an adjustment...but that`s another story :P ).

It should look like the image I`ve attached to help you identify it more easily...

SOURCE: HE2 Kenmore Washer stuck on F01 error message and

The F01 error is a communication error and most likely the cause is a bad central control board. You tried to unplug the power and the machine still will not start so next I'd recommend trying to run a diagnostic cycle to verify the operation of the central control. In the image below are the instructions to enter and run the diagnostic routine. If the process is done successfully all of the LED light will come on for 5 seconds then display the last error. Push the same button until the error code ends and all the lights come on again for 5 seconds then the test will start.
If the test runs through okay then the central control unit is most likely okay. If it fails to enter diagnostic then the control has failed and needs to be replaced.
The last thing to try is to check the connections on the control. A loose connector might cause this problem
To see how the control unit  looks please check out this link.

Resolution: Error code F-01 can be caused by a power surge or other electrical anomaly, attempt to return the washer to operation by following the Hard Reset procedure below.
To clear and restart the control follow the below listed steps:

  1. Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
  2. Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit into the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for another 30 seconds to allow the control to recognize all components.
  4. Press the Pause, Cancel or Stop button twice to clear the display.
  5. To test operation of the washer, select Drain & Spin cycle, then press and hold the start button until the machine starts.
If the cycle does not start, there may be an internal component failure that requires service by a professional technician.

Kenmore elite he5t washer model 11047789701 flashing F01 fault code- does this mean ccu must be replaced?

Do not take this as definitive answer! I am not an expert. A F01 error is indicative that the Central Control Unit cannot get instructions from the EEPROM. If you have not already done so, unplug the washer for a full 2 minutes to clear any instructions in memory, then plug it back in. If you still have a F01 error I suspicion that it is a bad CCU board. You can try to run the diagnostic on page 8 of the service manual but I do not think it will run if it is a bad CCU board.

Replaced CCU, Sears washer still will not run

Suggestion: Unplug washer from mains. Open up the machine, disconnect and refit all connectors with wires one by one. Could be some loose connection somewhere. Also helps in the long run

Did you get an error code? Also, take a wet-dry vac and **** the drain line. Sometimes there will be a blockage there as well. Have you checked the door switch for continuity?

Will not spin under load

F01 - There may be an internal problem with the control, attempt a Hard Reset.

Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

The F01 generally indicates a failed electronic machine control board.
This error code can sometimes be caused by a glitch or power surge through the electrical lines.
You may be able to clear this code by unplugging the washer for 5 minutes.
If the code returns after plugging the washer back in, then the electronic machine control board will need to be replaced.

The procedure for accessing and replacing this control board is shown in this image...

http://media.fotki.com/1_p,wkwdftgtbkdgfrwxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ksrttqdqrxkssrqtgsd/1/1303472/5961857/image12917img-or.jpg

Be sure to unplug the washer before accessing internal components.
When you access the control board, I recommend transferring the wires from the old control board to the new replacement control board one connection at a time.
Once you have all of the wires transferred, remove the old control board and mount the new control board in the washer.
Reassemble and test the washer.

The "F01" error code indicates a communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM onboard the CCU.
The "F01" can also be displayed if the onboard "Pump Driver" fails to activate.
Generally in order to correct this failure will require replacing the CCU.
There is no way to test and verify if the control board has failed.
The technical data sheet basically states to replace the CCU.

Door won't lock and washer won't start. There is water in the tub that won't drain. Add garment light stays on.

Unplug the washer for at least 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). This is the main computer for the washer and can sometimes experience momentary glitches. After you reset the CCU, attempt to select the DRAIN/SPIN option and select START to drain. If the washer still will not function, please post back and let me know. I'm trying to rule out the need for parts. If you do have a failed component you should get some sort of error code flashing.

Kenmore F-01 error

Hi there,

The F01 fault code is indicating an EEPROM error or a PUMP DRIVER error. A communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM on board the CCU occurred.

Possible causes of an EEPROM error:
A power glitch may have caused this error. Unplug the power cord for 3 minutes then reconnect power.

Possible causes of PUMP DRIVER error:
The pump driver fails to activate. Replace the the CCU board.

Most likely the CCU board will need to be replaced.

Good Luck!!

Thanks
