I recently purchased a 4-cup Farberware coffee pot (to replace one that served me well for over 30 years!!) The Model number is FCP with the initial G a few spaces after the FCP. I have had trouble...

Helen,

Fixya is does not sell parts or service, but rather helps answer questions about getting parts and service problems resolved.

You should contact the Farberware website for a replacement cord for your Coffee Pot. Click the "Customer Service" button on the left side of the page, or telephone 1-800-233-9054 for customer service if you'd prefer to speak with someone instead.

I hope this helps - and Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

FCP-240,280,412 Farberware Percolator, 3 Prong Cord is too heavy for the percolator. It sometimes comes loose and we have cold coffee. Also the Spring on the Pump Tube does not stay in place. Any Help?

HI, on the plug, is it the part that pluges into the wall or the pot. By the model # you have 3 China pots. On the pump just below the coffee basket, take a pair of pliers and put the basket on the tube , now just make small crimp just below the basket, just enough to make it out of round., you will make it so the crimp will not let the spring or basket go by. If it is the plug going into the wall just bend the 2 flat outward so the plug fits snug. Good luck . Ron

Coffee to water ratio

Weak coffee is 2 tsp per cup strong coffee is 3 tsp or 1 Tbls per cup. (3 tsp per Tblsp) 32 Tablespoons = 2 Cups, there are 4 Tblsp per 1/4 cup. If you're confused ( I am from reading my answer) Use 1 cup for weak coffee, two cups for strong or 1 & 1/2 for regular strength coffee. Hope that helps!

Senseo machine has started producing very weak coffee

I don't know if you've tried this, but it works like gangbusters for me. I use non-senseo pods with the 2-pod holder, and they're too big for the 1-pod holder but not quite big enough for the 2-pod one.

I would frequently end up with a lousy, weak cup of coffee, and after a little investigation I deduced that water was flowing into the pod holder and AROUND the pod, without going THROUGH the pod directly. The name-brand senseo pods fit perfectly, and always produce a strong cup, even if I don't like their coffee, and it's because there's such a tight seal between where water flows in and where it flows out.

Simple solution: Put your pod in with the flat part facing up, and the bulgy part facing down. Press it down hard into the 2-cup holder. Run a little HOT tap water, and lightly wet the surface of the pod--not so much water that the pod starts floating in the holder, but enough to get it soggy. Then make your cup of coffee. The water will flow through the pod first, and kind of like siphoning gas through a hose, once it's started going through the pod it won't stop. Instant awesome cup.
