Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
I am having trouble accessing vidoes/pics. downloaded from my phone and getting the message " Windows media player cannot play file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file".. any ideas would be appreciated please, thanks
Since your question is not so clear, I have to assume myself that pictures and videos saved on your phone can't play on your computer after they are transferred to your computer. The message simply means that the codec installed on your system does not support the media type that you are playing. If you don't have any other player installed on your system you have to try with this one Vlc media Player (click here to download). Download it, and install, now open the downloaded files (video or pic or audio) using this player. Hopefully that should work. Alternatively you can use this player instead of Windows Media Player, but on the other hand, you can still play those files using Windows Media Player. The only thing you need is to install a codec, like Klite megacodec packs, Acemega codec packs, etc.. Click here to download Klite mega codec packs Download, Install and restart your computer, now you'll be able to play any type of media file using your windows media player and other players.
If you have problem, let me know.
Thanks for using FixYa.
