Question about LG LFX25960ST Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator
I guess this a similar noise when it is jammed with ice. Kind of a loud buzz but it does not really sound like anything is moving. It happens when the door/chute is stuck.
I suggest you unplug the fridge and then visually inspect the ice maker...try to pull the chute open...or run the ice maker and verify the door is opening. If the sound is occurring 100% of the time the door could be off its track or misaligned.
If you try to open the door it should have resistance, like it is sort of spring loaded. Generally this outer assembly is only held on by 2-3 screws...if you are handy at all you could try removing it yourself to get a closer look at everything. It also could be the gearing in the ice grinder.
Shut off the icemaker and take out the ice bin and empty it. Make sure that there is no ice melted and refrozen on the bottom. I've also seen where ice in the bin has frozen together in large clumps and it makes a heck of a racket.
