Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a frigidaire front loader that I've owned for about 3 years. It traps water in the seal and also has mold growing inside it from time to time. It smells so badly right now that my entire wash room has an offensive odor that leaks into the house if I leave the door open. I use this washer every day, I have 6 people in my house, so it's not from siting for too long. My clothes are not smelling clean anymore either! How can I file a complaint and what can be done about it?

Unfortunately we hvae created our own problems on front loads .all front loads all brands retain water in door boot .few people today wash with plain chlorine bleaches as result bacteria and mold are more likely to occur best solution wash door boot regularly with bleach and water solution run a bleach wash (no clothes) every few months and leave door open slightly after use don't give up too easily more than 1 cleaning may be necessary and should be done regularly

I AM ALWAYS GETTING MOLD INSIDE THE LG FRONT LOADER. THE RUBBER SEAL IS ALWAYS MOLDY

Hi

Try using bleach with hot water, run a cycle with hot water and bleach. Or spray bleach +water mixture on the seal. Run a cleaning cycle with hot water and bleach or vinegar at least once a month to reduce the growth of mold in other parts of the washer. If the growth is very high then try and leave the door open for 4-5 hours and let it dry and then spray the bleach+water (3:1) mixture on the seal. Let it dry for another 2-3 hours. You may need to change the seal in case of extreme growth of mold. Hope this helps...

MOLD

Hello Friend, Sounds to me like you have a problem with the quality of your water supply going into your washer. Water quality could be a possibility. If the water contains alot of micro-organisms this could be the problem. When you are not using your front load washer the door remains closed trapping in moisture causing mold and mildew to grow. If you just repeat the cleaning process once again with bleach you should'nt have this problem anymore if you leave the washer door partially open when not in use. Happy to help, Tim.

Black mold growing on gray rubber boot inside door.

Leave washer door slightly ajar after use to air out any moisture. Should prevent any future mold.

Frigidaire Front load washer mold

LEAVING DOOR OPEN BETWEEN USES ALLOWS WASHER TO BREATHE. BEING A CLOSED SYSTEM, IT'S KIND OF LIKE PUTTING A TUPPERWARE LID ON A BOWL WITH RESIDUE AND MOISTURE INSIDE AND LETTING IT GROW.

Its normal for water to collect in the seal folds. The main thing is to dry it out completely. Take a dry cloth or sponge and try to remove excess water. Leave the door open to dry it out. You can even use a de-mould agent spray (many varieties available in the market). The main idea is to kepp the folds dry.

Hope that helps!

Hey, Buddy!

Well the mold is caused from the door being shut after you arte finished with the use of the machine. it traps the mouisture inside..To solve this use some bleach and water wipe it down around the door seal..then after each load just crack the door open this will allow air to dry out the inside and stop the mold

Frigidaire washing machine collects water behinf door seal

Frigidaire has several mfr defects with their new front loading machines. The detergent/bleach drawer retains water, the door often leaks, water does accumulate in the door seal and the spin has broken twice on us and the machin is only 15 months old! Repair is contracted out by Lowes to independant repair companies, who demand payment, even when Lowes says it is covered under warrantee. What a waste of a large amount of money! We will NEVER purchase Frigidaire or recommend their products to anyone.
