Pull the dryer out and unplug the dryer . Then remove the back panel . On the blower housing , you will see a 1" ling white piece , with 2 wires going to it . Disconnect the wires and hook them togather . Plug in the dryer and start it . If the dryer heats , replace this piece ( thermal fuse...pt # 3392519 ) .

This was it. When I checked this with a multimeter it was open. Shorted two wires together and the igniter fired up. Do these go in age or should I be looking at a cause to this fuse going. All air paths are clean and clear as I clean dryer internals regularly.

My clothes will not dry. Air blows, but it does not get hot. I have a gas/electric dryer. It is a Kenmore dryer 70 Series.

Because you have a gas dryer, your problem is probably caused by the ingition panel.Generally, with a gas dryer, there is an ignition device that heats to a specific temperature and this causes the gas to ignite. When this electric ignition fails to work, the gas will not ignite and there will be no heat. I had this happen and had to call a professional. It was a simple matter of installing a new ignition device and it worked perfectly for years. I hope this helps! If it is a new dryer, check to see if this part might be covered under warranty. If this helps solve your problem, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice

Dryer will not get hot. Is there something simple that I can check before calling a repair man?

Hi,

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Select a heat setting other than Air Fluff.

Make sure gas supply is on for gas dryer, Clean the lint filter and exhaust duct.

Good Luck and have a nice day.

Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Replace the ignitor you broke and check gas valve coils for continuity (they should be in the range of 500 - 2000 Ohm, don't remember exactly). Very likely one of them has failed.
Part numbers for the ignitor (any will do, they're identical):

4391996
WE4X750
5303937186

Part numbers for gas valve coils (complete kit, also identical):

279834

My kenmore gas dryer model 65761 stopped heating up, any suggestions?

I would suggest checking the hot surface ignitor. This is what lights the burner to give the machine the heat. It is usually located at the lower rear right side near the burner tube and glows red hot when the dryer is turned on. It usually has two white wires going to a plugg and held in by a couple of screws fairly simple to replace once you get to it. Probably have to take the front of the dryer off to get to it.
