I`m not quite sure of what you mean but if the brushes were not seated right it mite slow it down or you mite have a stretched drive belt. I hope this does trick.

I overheated my Makita 9557PB angle grinder. I replaced the brushes. Bearings seem ok: the motor assembly turns freely, smoothly, and quietly. The running motor is slow, with a loud "grinding" sound.

Measure the value difference in Ohm between the carbon brushes on the armature there are some collectors in the commutator give an other ohm value if compared to other collectors in the comutator of the armature . if measure turn the blad very slow so the collectros can be positioned to measure the ohm difference. range to measure 0-200ohm on ohmmeter.
If only one brush made trouble ( much more sparking ) then the electric field is not in ohm value balance, control always if there are slide contacts used they are solid. on the field. Measure the difference. between the 2 field coils of the electric field . if its also different replace allways the field and the armature if thats also have problems (BUT DON,T FORGET to order a new drive gear for the armature and new brushes. !!!

My A-9 KA coffee mills are working perfectly. 2003 never quits, 2006 was a royal pain and burrs/pin replaced and working perfectly. Now, I have a 2004 used for decaf, actual use from purchase about

I don't see a question in the paragraph but common problems for the A9 are 1) Shear pin 2) Motor brushes 3) slow motor operation
If shear pin then the grinders won't turn or may intermittently rotate if pin is half broken
If motor brushes worn to nubs then a fast clicking noise and sporadic on off operation followed by no operation
If motor is slow then the commutator may need cleaning requiring removing the rotor

I have a DW402 4.5'' angle grinder and do not know how to remove the blade to install a new one. Could someone help please?

On top of the head there is a button to press to lock the blade arbor. Press it down and turn the blade by hand until it locks in place. Then you need either a spanner wrench or nut wrench depending on which arbor nut you have. Grinders usually come with whichever wrench they need. Most grinders have an arbor nut with two or four holes and require a spanner wrench with two studs that fit into two of the holes to remove the arbor nut. Some have an arbor nut with a hex fitting, like a regular nut & bot setup, that the arbor wrench fits on. If you don't have the proper wrench sometimes you can get the arbor nut off with a pair of vice grips or pliers. You will want to turn the nut in the same direction as the blade spins when the grinder is on to remove it. When you put the new blade on, get the arbor nut hand tight, it is self tightening and will get tighter as you use the grinder.

Hi, I'm trying to change the fiber disc on a DeWalt DW402 but after pushing the locking button on top I'm not able to unscrew the wheel. If I turn counterclockwise the wheel turns, but it seems I...

  • 1 Check the grinder before you begin. The newer discs on rotary grinders have patented buttons that allow you to remove the disc without any tools. You may have one like that. In models like this, there's usually a spot to depress and then remove the disc.

  • 2 Turn off the grinder before you attempt to remove and change the disc on your rotary grinder. If it's battery powered, put the grinder in lock position so you can't accidentally turn it on. If it's electric, unplug the grinder from the wall.
  • 3 Look for a nut in the center of the disc. This is a give away that you need to use your special wrench. Sometimes the grinder comes with a tool necessary to loosen and remove the nut. Other times you need to use a wrench.
  • 4 Lock the wheel into place before you begin. You can find a button or switch at the side or back that allows you to do that. When you lock the wheel in place, the disc remains still as you loosen the nut in the center.
  • 5 Remove the nut in the center with either the tool provided with the grinder or a shop tool and lift the disc off your rotary grinder.
  • 6Lift the disc off the rotary grinder. If you have different discs, remember to check for the best fit. Put the nut back on a different way for different discs. Check for a rim and indentation on one side of the nut and a flat side on the other. A visual inspection of the disc for the rotary grinder gives you information about the side to use.

Unit has hard time starting, need to turn wheel, only runs at slow speed

you have a problem with the bearings or the motor/brushes are burnt. Does this tool arc when running. If so I would check the brushes first, unplug the tool and remove them and while they are out rotate the motor slowly and look at the commutator bars for excessive discoloration or unusual wear.

    Need new brushes

Match them up at ace hardware. Pull the screw out of the back by the cord. And slide that half down. Your brushes are exposed. Use the same spring that was in before and toss the new ones, unless they are close to the original. The ones that matched a recent 7750 (type 3) was #61702. Good luck.

Gets hot fast and wont get up to speed. Rplcd Field and Brushes

If the field has gotten that hot to melt it , it sound like it needs to be replace as well. The heating is probably due to a short in the field.

Why does my dw831 grinder keep tripping circuit breakers?

    try checking the brushes.

to do this: remove the 2 small covers on the left and right side of the tool and push aside the coil spring holding in the brush. the brush should freely pull out of the holder.

when you have the covers off, look for charring or melting. and after the brushes are out, rotate the arbor to move the armature inside and look to make sure it's not charred.

if that doesnt help, take apart the handle and look for melted or exposed wire. dewalt likes to pack the wires in tight among the screws and sometimes the normal vibration of the tool will cause a screw to cut into a wire and short the wire.

new brushes and holders (if melted) are usually around 20 dollars US
