It could be due to the power supply board or DG board or even H board failure. If it's in warranty, just drop to the warranty depot shop to repair.

If your television is going into standby when you are manually pressing the power button, that means your television is in safe mode. Your remote will not help you in most instances when this happens. If you heard a pop of some sort that is not good, if there was no noise then unplug the TV for an hour or so to let it reset it self. If that does not fix it you need some service work done on it.

hi there, have the same kind of problem twice so far after was bought for me as x-mas present (although my viera isnt plasma, its an LCD TX-32LMD70A)..
I Pulled out the mains plug for about 10-20 seconds and then plugged back in (power button at top was pushed in, in the on position, so when the power was on, the tv just goes straight on). It then worked.
i would however like to know why this happens ( i really hope this isnt a hardware problem, as like many others... its only months old!!)
hope this helps

Hi to all, My 42" Panasonic plasma have the same problem. It turned itself off and now red light flashes 7 times, than after short pause 7 times again. And so on. Any ideas what is wrong??
The easiest way is to reset the TV. There are 3 possible resets for this TV. press and hold Action and Power on the TV until self check appears-- then unplug the TV wait for 30 sec. then plug back in. The reset should take care of any channel lock/ game guard settings
Also Volume down on unit and sleep on remote. Same process wait for self check then unplug for 30 sec. plug back in and turn on.
Last Volume down on the unit and RH-Split on the remote-- same process

Panasonic sets need to be reset to clear the v-chip settings. To do this, put it in standby mode, then press the POWER and ACTION buttons at the same time and then turn the power off. The set should reset to the factory defaults, and reset the v-chip
