Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

When I plug my PS3 controller in with the usb lead, the four red lights blink at the front of the controller then eventually switch off. I try to press and hold the PS3 button on the controller, but no effect.

You may try resetting it. you'll need something really pointy, there is a tiny button on the bottom you can push in. its on the back top next to a screw hole. hold it in for a few seconds then, resync them.
Please rate my solution ++++ if it was helpful, or feel free to ask for more information. Thank you

Have you plugged your controller into the system via a usb cable? Do that and hold the center button (PS) until the red lights in front of the controller go from 4 blinking lights to one, then you should be good to go.

Dualshock 3 just blinks with all four lights when i plug it into ps3 slim. reset button does nothing but delay blinking. no way of connecting so i dont know if it is charged or charging

Hello and welcome to Fixya. From what your describing it sounds as if your DualShock3 Controller lost it's bluetooth connection with the PS3. Make sure you plug the controller to the PS3 using the USB to miniUSB cable and hold down the PS button for three seconds to see if this resyncs it. If it does not turn your controller around and you will see a small hole. You will need a paperclip or other small long object and insert it into the hole to reset the controller. Next after pressing the reset button on the controller try the same steps that I provided above again. I can tell you that the four lights blinking slowly means the controller is actively charging. I hope you found this helpful and good luck.

Have you tried hitting the reset button on the controller? While it's plugged in via USB, get something small and hit the reset button on the back. (Right next to the front and center screw)

Cant get the controller to work

is this the six axis? if so have you tried the reset button on the bottom of the controller? And does it work when plugged in to the usb port? if you have plugged it in and it still dosent work then its possible the controller is bad. If it does work when its plugged in then its the controller battery. if you try it without the usb and it just blinks 4 red lights then the PS3 isnt picking it up and could be a problem with the bluetooth reciever in the PS3.

Does any one know how to add a second controller? I have tried everything!!

hook it up to a USB cord and connect it to your PS3, then hit the PS button to turn it on. It will register itself to the PS3.

Controller not working

I had the same problem, so I called customer service and had me do this:

1) with the USB cable plugged into the controller, power down the ps3 and turn the on/off switch in the back to "off".
2) hold your thumb down on the front button (where you normally can turn it on) while turning the switch on the back to "on" again. keep your thumb or finger on the front switch.
3) You will hear the normal "beep" that you usually hear when the PS3 boots up, but after a few seconds later, you will hear a secondary beep. Remove your thumb or finger after this second beep and the PS3 will reset itself after a few seconds. I have a projector connected to it, so I had to set the display screen back to HDMI afterwards, but when I disconnected the USB cable the controller worked wirelessly again. The customer service rep said that this allowed the controller to pair with the PS3 again. Note: You probably do not have to have the controller plugged into the USB cable at all while doing this. I just happened to have it plugged in. Hope this helps.

Power problem

Sounds to me that you have loose connection, have you pulled the plug out of the socket and checked the wires are connected properly.Obviously make sure there is no power on if you do this!

Move the lead about behind the PS3 see if it makes any differance.

How old is the unit is it under warranty if it is then i would take it back to where you bought it.

PS3 controller Problem

I just fixed mine. The controller itself needs to be reset. There is a reset button on the back of the controller, above the top right hand corner of the square with all on the information and barcode. Press it with a sharp tipped object while still connected to the PS3 via USB cable. Then press the PS button and you should be back on wirelessly.
