Normally the 12 volt supply would NOT damage the unit UNLESS it had the wrong polarity or was an AC type.

Likely damage if these were used is confined to a few small electronic components where the power copmes into the unit.

Repair the unit before putting correct supply as you could damage the correct supply if those parts failed a certain way.

I lost my adapter to my keyboard and I need to find either a substitute or a new way to turn it on without the adapter, HELP!!!.

Some Casio Keyboards use 9V DC (center negative) others 12V DC (center negative).
If check what voltage your Keyboard use. Generic AC adapters are usually center positive. So you have to invert the wire with a new DC plug to make it center negative,
Easiest is to buy a Casio ac adapter made for your keyboard from a Casio retailer.

Hello. I have a Boss MT-2 distortion pedal. It will not power up with the adapter or battery. Wondering what could be wrong. Any suggestions on what to look for? Thank you!

The battery is connected via plugging in the input guitar cable ( a seperate contact is made at the jack). Sometimes this can be broken. Usually this failure is caused by someone stepping on or yanking a cable and the solder is broken at the jack/board attachment. This can be the input jack OR the power jack. Occasionally the circuit board or the traces on it are cracked, requiring jumpers to be installed on the board. In any case, open the pedal and look for these problems.

Hi :) I have a problem with my Boss mt-2 pedal. Whenever I insert the jack plug in the input, the adapter switches off automatically. The pedal works fine with battery and no problem is created. This only...

Make sure you are NOT using a TRS (stereo or three conductor cable) type cable. PLugging into the input should turn the pedal ON, not off. The switch on the jack may be broken or soldering to the circuit board may be broken OR worst case, there is a crack in the circuit board.

My boss metal zone pedal power light wont come on when i hook the ac adapter to it i get nothing but a hum and no output clean or distortion, then when i plug a 9volt battery in it gives only clean tone...

There is a switch contact that connects the battery when you unplug the AC adapter. These commonly get sprung and cease to make contact leaving the battery disconnected when adapter is unplugged, resulting in no power. Verify the battery is being connected and see if the unit works properly. If so the adapter is either the wrong one or defective.
In other words, there may be two problems.

I just got a new Boss Metal Zone MT-2 pedal 3 days ago(1-28-11) n when I press on it is not turning on???

Try the obvious stuff first.
  1. Check that it has a battery in it and it is installed the right way round.
  2. Only use top quality batteries (Duracell Ultra or equivalent) do not use re-chargeables as they don't achieve adequate voltage.
  3. If you are using a mains adapter try a battery instead as the adapter may be faulty (or vice versa)
  4. Some effects pedals will not switch on without a jack plug in either the input or output socket (or both)
  5. If none of that works it is probably faulty - take it back to the shop and ask them to replace it or prove it works

My MT-2 wont distort my guitar.

A few things to try....

Usually the adapter will over ride the battery when used.
1) Make sure your 1/4" cables are working properly without the pedal "in-line".

2) Take out battery, and use just the adapter only. Make sure it is the correct and proper adapter that works with Boss. Usually the PSA-120. If you are not using a Boss Adapter, make sure yours is a direct replacement with same specifications. 9V/200mA. And "tip negative". DO NOT use Radio Shack stuff, nothing against them, but there adapters just don't mix well with Boss products and the like.

2) Try just the battery, no AC adapter. Remember to unplug the input when not in use. Saves battery.

Basic rule of thumb...when using correct AC adapters for all your pedals all the time, and all sounds good, then take out the batteries.

If you still experience problems, it would be an internal IC chip most likely. From there post another question maybe.

I plug it in and all it does is make a high

Make sure you either use a fresh, name brand battery or correct AC adapter.

Turn all controls down at first as it is possible this pedal may feedback internally if controls are all up.

I have never had a problem with my distortion pedal it worked just fine then i dint use it for about a month and now when i plug it in and push the pedal it wont work.

If you are using battery power, the answer is to try a new battery.

If you have an adapter for power, make SURE you are using the right one.

Make sure the in and out cables are connected correctely.

A subtle problem can be a bad power inut plug.

Microkorg not turning on

I can tell you what it is from first-hand experience. The audio in LED's coming on and going out means that a power supply putting out more than 9 volts DC was used...or the wrong polarity. Korg sells a repair manual for about $12 but they ultimately need a whole new circuit board. If the wrong polarity supply was used, then maybe only a diode was damaged. This would be a cheap fix. But more than likely it knocked out one of the large surface mount IC's that us techs don't even dare to replace. Korg charges around $280 for a new circuit board. A used working microKorg sells for this much.

Honestly, I would stay away from Korg products and many others. Many companies are now using surface mount components which are cheaper and harder to fix. Moog synths are expensive but they are completely fixable(and are built to last). If Korg would install a $0.25 voltage regulator on the input of the DC jacks, the unit would be saved. I think this pretty much sums up the build quality. This is probably not what you wanted to hear but is how it is unfortunately.

Metal Pedal mutes my guitar.

Sell the pedal and get a digitech, or convert it into a looper pedal.
