Hi,

Since your camera is newly bought, there might be a possibility that it is still part of the warranty. Kindly check with your authorized dealer about it and for immediate technical repair.

Thank you.

Hi,

You might want to send your camera to your Sony Authourized Dealer for some technical repair. Since it accidentally fell, there might be a part from your camera that is affected by the sudden hit causing your lense to jammed.

Thank you.

Zoom broken

The impact damaged has jammed you lens assembly. I see these all the time in my shop. If it can be repaired without parts a shop should be able to do it for you for around $75. If it needs a new lens however it will not be worth the cost (the parts alone would cost about $50). I think though from your description it is probably repairable without parts. Please contact me if you need any more help

Jammed digital zoom lens

For whatever reason, the lens has failed. This can be caused by many things: the lens motor has failed or is stuck, the gears involved in driving the lens have jammed, or, as pointed out previously, the lens itself, a series of tubes which fit into one another has become stuck. You can try GENTLY pressing down on the lens when you first power the camera to see if you can free up the stuck lens. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you are going to have to get the camera serviced.
The clicking sound you're hearing is the lens trying to move itself. Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be fixed by pushing on the lens. You are going to have to get the camera serviced. Sorry!

Lens error, restart camara issue in SD900

Hey GeorgiaPlum,
What is most likely happening is there is damage to the lens or the lens mechanism and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I will say that digital camera repairs often exceed the value of the camera, but it can't hurt to get an estimate done. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Lenses

Your camera's problem is with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

Zoom lens problem

Most often these problems occur because of shocks received by the camera. The zoom mechanism in the lens assembly gets knocked out of place. Sometimes this happens just like that, without any clear reason. The lens assembly is a delicate mechanism if one small part gets out of the place it will damage or jam the whole mechanism. A service center can check for that. There is no way for the end user to proper realign the lens mechanism because it is sooo small. It requires specialised tools and hardware. Also, when you take the camera to a service, ask them an estimate of the repair, you will know if it is worth it. Repairs vary form a simple lens adjustment to the need of having the whole lens assembly replaced
