Hello I hv an Acer aspire 4702z model z01 who's

remove the side of the computer and make sure the power connector is plugged in to the drive. if it is not then plug it in and the problem is solved. if it is the drive is dead or you have a faulty power supply try plugging in another power connector ... if it is an ATA power connector it has 4 wires and usually a white plug but not always white. there is also a dat cable called a ribbon cable and it looks flat 2 inches across and grey. if it is a SATA drive connector it will look like a thick cable with a black plug coming down from the top of the computer where the power supply is. There are 2 cables plugged in to the drive the bigger plug is the power cable the one with the smaller plug is the data cable usually orange or red. Make sure everything is plugged in if it is the drive is mostly dead. you can buy a new drive for around $25 at a computer store. easy to replace... i hope this helps

Hi, My dvd drive does not show any more on "my computer" and has stopped working. I have put in a new dvd drive - no luck! The device manager tells me the "driver fails to load" but when i try to update...

Make sure the dvd drive ribbon cable is in the socked as tight as it can be, and it is on the secandry socket on the motherboard, not the one that connects to your hd.
Put the dvd-rom on the last socket of the ribbon cable and adjust the jumber on the back of the dvd-rom to master.

Take all other ide or sata divices out and put them back afterwards.

How do u install wii chip wasabi dx

it's actually not necessary to put a modchip in a Wii to play backups, but since you really want to know...

Once your Wii is apart and the dvd drive is removed, grab your Wasabi DX modchip.
Check the dip switches on the Wasabi DX and configure them to your region.

The ribbon cable that goes to your Wii console should be connected to the plug shown on the right in the picture below.
The ribbon cable that comes with the Wasabi DX should be connected to the plug shown on the left in the picture below.
The other end of the ribbon should be connected to the Wii DVD Drive.

Position the Wasabi DX modchip on the metal of the Wii console.
Place it so none of the ribbon cables will be damaged when the console is re-assembled and stick it down with electrical tape.
Make sure you use enough to completely cover the Wasabi DX modchip.
Thats it.

How to replace my DVD drive?

well if you are going to buy one, i would go to and see what they have. I am also assuming that you are comfortable opening your computer. When you get a new DVD drive open up your computer and look how the old one is connected(i would do that before you buy a new drive too) and if your connects the way i think it does it should have a ribbon (bunch of wires attached together in a line) that have a rectangular thing at the end that connects to the back of your drive and also it will have another set of wires that are multicolored that come from your power thing it will have 4 wires that connect to the back of the DVD drive, make sure both the ribbon and the power cables connect correctly to your new DVD drive. if they do great, you now would only have to take out the old drive and put in the old one(they usually attach to the computer case via screws on the side of the drive) once the old is out and the new is in you just plug in the cables(ribbon and power) and it should work.If the cables arent the same see if you can return it for one that would fit correctly. If you have any questions about my explanation ask (i am new to this and not all that great at giving organized instructions)

Dead HP zv6000 Won't Start at all

Okay the first thing you want to do is disassemble it again and make sure all your connectors are connected. Even if you damaged the keyboard cable, the computer should still boot up at least to a keyboard error screen. Make sure the RAM is seated correctly and everything is tight. It is possible that you damaged something (motherboard) as these things are extremely sensitive but hopefully you just have a loose cable somewhere.

If you need the data off the disk, a external USB case would work, or you can just get a USB adapter, without a case it may be cheaper. You can get a multiple one that will connect to IDE or SATA 3.5 or 2.5 drives for around $20 or so.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Xbox 360 will play movies but not games

you cannot just replace the old dvd drive with a new one, you need to take the key from the old drive and then place it onto the new drive so it will work. all xbox 360 drives have a security key. If you still have your old drive then you may be ok and it may be that a technician can do the work for you.

Acer aspire L100

It helps to know what to ask for....

Is it the ribbon cable (see below)
9fc9b24.gif Or the 4 pin molex plug? (see below)
9b76c9f.jpg Or a SATA cable? (see below)
8de40ec.gif Or an eSATA cable (see below)
c71f854.jpg Or the sata Power cable? (see below)
Then you can go on the internet and find and purchase the right cable you need replaced.

No disc message appears

Just re-seating the flat cable, many times, didn't work for me. Instead, I very carefully cut about about 1mm off the end with a straight, smooth edge scissors. Then I plugged it in, pushed the clip down, and it worked! Be sure to cut straight, or the fine pitch contacts might not line up.
