Question about D-Link DU 560M (DU-560M) Modem

2 Answers

We have faced a problem during a connection state between two D-Link DU 560M modems. When the two modems are used in my office using two PSTN lines the connection can be established. But the same two modems are used at other office in other town using the two PSTN lines, the connection can not be established sounding long tone and finally stalled. What is the problem and how to solve it? The two modems are working in one town and not working in another town. We test the modems using two LENOVO notebook PCs, each acting as RAS host and client in turn.

We have faced a problem during a connection state between two D-Link DU 562M modems.

The above mentioned two Dlink DU 562M modems are used for dial-up connection between two LENOVO notebook PCs for which data from each PC to be transferred to other PC. Each PC are acting as RAS host and client in turn so that data from one PC can be transferred to other PC and vice vasa. We tried adjusting the two modems on lower speed baud rate, but the connection can not be established. Thus we stop using the two Dlink modems and the two LENOVO notebook PCs.

Then we used the two TOSHIBA Satellite L310 notebook PCs with built modem. When using these Toshiba PCs for dial-up connection between the two PCs, the connection can be established in a short period as usual. The PSTN line numbers are used the same as for Dlink modems.

So Why the dial up connection between the two external Dlink modems can not be established but the dial-up connection between the two built-in modems of the two Toshiba PCs can be established for the same two PSTN line numbers ? I wonder if the modem initialisation stream for the two Dlink modems are needed to be modified. If needed what initialisation stream is to be used for those Dlink DU 562M modems.

    Thankyou

Usually a long tone signifies that no response was received for the call. Since you have tested the modems and they are functioning at a hardware level then the problem is in the connection - most likely in the other town the quality of the phone line is very low, or the phone company simply didn't modernized the network. They might be still on analog systems (or even worse, on mechanical) in that town so the tone dialling and faster speeds simply aren't supported. The only thing you can try is to set a lower modem speed - you should go even as low as 14.4k .

    Dear Azraelsrl,

Sorry for my mistake for describing wrong model no. DU 560M instead of DU 562M.

We used Dlink DU 562M external USB modem.

It depends on what that sequence is, and whether the modem actually does the PTSN standard sequences. Since i never had your modem in my hand all i can say is that the configuration is wrong. You should uninstall them, run a registry cleaner and install and configure again. Use the settings from the  modems from the Toshiba laptops.

Are you resetting the modems between installs?.
Perhaps it is simply retaining the "OLD" settings, and NOT updating then to the new.
Are you sure that BOTH PSTN services are both the same, NO call waiting etc, on one and not on another, check for any dissimilarities between the two.
The way you have tested them could be better it is best that that are tested under real life conditions? Set ONE at a time get ONE going, then try the other ON the actual PSTN line, and an external location, is best.

Some PSTN numbers are "Stepping" if so there WILL be problems, two completely different numbers are OK, but if stepping or sequential, then often these have issues. This may be an exchange issue if so.
You don't describe what ya trying to do, but if just simple modem to Modem communication, or access to the Internet, I presume Dial-up?
Also have the exchange check the suitability of the PSTN lines at the bad location, as perhaps the internet, cannot connect due to poor lines, what voice may work over some modems simply will not.
Make sure all BT jacks ate wired correctly, specifically, the Tip & Ring, ensure the are polarity correct, use the good location as a guide.

Well, you DEFINATELY have an Issue! Your Particular model Was and Is NOT Distrubuted in the United States (According to DLink Corporation, on their Web-Site). However, IF you Follow this link:

http://www.dlink.com/

it will take you to their Direct Site. From there, on the Top-Right-Corner at the "Quick Find", Do the "Select" in the drop-down box. Next, do the "Select One" in the next box (drops down). Then it ask you to pick the Country for your solution, Since that Particular Product is NOT distributed OR Supported By or In the United States Tech Support.

Select the Appropriate Country from which the Unit was obtained for their support. From there, they should have the drivers and software for the unit.

Audiocodes MP118 8 FXO early media to Freeswitch SIP extension

Hi, man.
There are many things to consider in this type of application.
when calling from PSTN to IP using analog lines from time to time you will have this type of event, I suggest working with H323 protocol, this will tone down a bit your problem.
If you want optimum performance, you should use a DID with the channels you need and address to your PBX SIP FreeSwitch. The DIDs are cheaper and are digital which eliminates random connectivity problems in the incoming call.
Once you have directed the DID you tell your server to transfer the call to the IVR using your internal dialing plan.
