SOURCE: Ice Maker Won't Stop Making Ice

There is an adjustment for the "harvest" bar (The bar you lifted up). That bar you are lifting up tells the ice-maker that the cubes have fallen into the ice storage and starts the ice-making cycle over. It is also the Limit switch for the ice level in the storage container ... if it stays up for preset time determined by the manufacturer it stops making ice... most all ice-machines use the same devices. they vary little in design. Sometimes you can just gently bend the bar down to the point where it turns-off the machine at the level you want ... unless you can get to the adjustment hinge you can adust it there. For the fact it goes off when you lift it all the way up tells me the harvest switch is turning the ice-maker off.

SOURCE: Icemaker Arm stuck in up position

Hi, Check and see if the finger sweep has ice jamming it so that it can't finish it's rotation. This is a come problem. You might have to remove the ice maker to see what is blocking it. Usually two screws on top and one underneath the ice maker.
Please let me know if i can assist you further.

SOURCE: Ice maker bin indicator arm is stuck in the bin is full position

You should be able to move it gently to the lower position.  If it doesn't want to move don't force it.  Try shutting the ice maker off in case the arm is frozen in the up position.  After the ice maker defrosts a bit try again to move the arm gently.

most likely you need a new ice maker, one thing that could do this is the white arms that spin around when dumping the ice, sometimes one of the arms bend and jam the ice maker and you'll hear that knocking soundthe arm gets bent, the ice cube gets stuck because the arm can't push it out,,it stops the motor from spinning through it's full cycle and damages it but this is just a guess from something i've seen happen but most likely you need a new ice maker, one other i've seen is the metal arm that you can lift up to shut off the ice maker gets knocked out of the hole it slides into.if you pop off the white cover and get a jumper wire and stick it into the h and t holes you can jump start the ice maker.http://appliantology.org/gallery/image/659-manual-harvest-on-a-whirlpool-modular-ice-maker/

LG LRSC 26920tt won't make ice

In order to determine the problem you must check a few things:

1) Is there water in the ice tray? If not. verify the saddle valve is turned on, check the connection on the water valve, verify that there are no kinks in the inlet hose, and check he water filter to see if it is clogged.

2) Is the temperature correct? Make sure the fans are working properly and air is flowing. Verify the the frig and freezer are at the correct temperature and make sure the ice maker compartment door is sealing shut.

If these things check out ok, run an ice maker test. Make sure the ejector arm and feeler arm are in their original positions before beginning. If they are not:

1. Turn off icemaker and wait 5sec.
2. Turn on icemaker.
3. Wait until feeler arm and ejector are back to original positions.

To begin the icemaker test: Press and hold the test button on the icemaker for 5 seconds. If the LED, feeler arm and or ejector does not return to to their original positions the problem is with the ice maker.
The ice maker part number for your model is 5989JA0002G

The ice-maker shutoff arm in my LG LFX29560 doesn't move to the position to shut off making ice. It looks like ice falls on TOP of it, instead of pushing it up. I've checked it at different stages, and...

The arm should move to the up position just before dumping the next batch of ice thus preventing ice from piling up on the arm. After the ice is dumped the arm goes back down. Once the ice bin if full the arm cannot go down and this shuts the production of ice off. The arm will be supported on one or both ends. Make sure it is securely in place. Pull the arm to the up (off) position and then come back in a couple of hours to make sure no ice is being made. If it still is making ice then the control module or shutoff switch may be bad. There are 2 types of ice makers. One in which all the parts can be replaced individually and one in which there are bunched together in a control module. If there is a knob, pull that off first. Module units have holes in the face plate marked with a letter and do not have a separate shutoff switch. Component units have no holes and will have exposed gears. If you see no holes pry off the face plate. Now click this link on the procedure to test the shutoff switch on a component unit. http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/icemaker/check/shutoffswitch.php

Ice maker is not making ice, the arm that indicates if the chest is full won't go down, it is stuck in the up position

It is probably frozen in place. The old ice tray bend and spils water all over the place. Have you changed the ice tray with the update?

MY ICE MAKER FEELER ARM IS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN FIX THIS? MODEL LFX25950SB LG REFRIG

Water is getting into the area where the arm pivots and freezing. This prevents the arm from dropping down when it should. I use a hair dryer to melt the ice in the area of where the arms comes out of the base. As soon as the arm drops, the ice maker will make more ice. This LG in the door icemaker is junk.

Icemaker not making ice - feeler arm in up position

You may have a broken icemaker and needs to be replaced.  The internal parts are solid state electronics and they can break.

Inoperative Ice Maker

The icemaker stops working because excessive water gets into the control box(where circuit board is housed) through the shaft hole of "finger" and freezes the wheels to turn the "ice-bucket-full detector rod". This stops to send the signal to open water valve.
To fix, remove the icemaker from the wall (need remove two screws - make sure power switch is OFF) and carefully separate the snap-on cable (retangular shape) and a ground cable on the bottom side of the icemaker. (Now you can remove the icemaker out of the refrigerator).
You can open the contol box (need unscrew one and carefully prop it open using a screw driver or a knife. You can unplug color corded snap-on cables for easiness to work (very simple).
You will see ice formed around the plastic gear wheel controlling the "ice-bucket-full detector rod". Remove all ice and dry all the parts in the box and put them back. Make sure all the cable are back to the matching color receptable(only fits in the right place). Connect the cable(rectangular shape) and connect the ground cable. Mount the incemaker on the wall using two screws you removed at first.
Turn the power ON and reset the system by press down the ice cube size selector until the "fingers" make a full cycle. You will see the metal rod moves up and down as system resets. During this cycle the water will be filled into the icemaker.
I believe this icemaker has a design flaw but it's very simple to correct the problem you are experiencing. You do not need much electronic or mechanical knowlege to fix this.
Best wishes

Young
