The belt fell off of the drum, i have the front off but i dont know where the disconnected pulley goes.

Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

Locate mounting slots in front of motor. (In some cabinets, there are two sets of slots for mounting the idler assembly. In this case, mount the idler assembly in the slots that line up under the grooves in the motor pulley.)

Install idler assembly into cabinet base by hooking mounting tab (A) into 1⁄4" wide mounting slots and setting mounting tabs (B) into the 3⁄16" wide mounting slot.

Make sure belt is around drum, with grooves down.

Route belt through the idler and around the motor pulley.

Belt Broke and pulley bracket came loose, where does pully belong

It goes into the front of the motor on the floor with the wheel to the left. You insert the belt between the idler bracket and loop it over the motor pulley.
The ribs of the belt need to be up against the drum for grip. It is best to have a person hold the drum while you do the pulley. Here is a page that shows various belt routings on different machines, yours is bottom right.

The dryer belt came off the idle pulley came off

i have no picture but it sounds to me like my old dryer. There should be a couple slots on the bottom piece of sheet metal. The pulley will appear to just loosely sit in these...wtf??? Its a trick its mostly the reverse pressure of holding the belt that keeps it in place. So when you removed the belt the idler just kinda fell outta place. mine was a whirpool though so ur situation could be totally different. good luck

How do you put the belt on a 1996 dryer belt? The pulley had fallen to the bottom of the dryer and now we are unsure of where it is originally supposed to be.

Hi 815carey,
That is a hard thing to describe with out a diagram but I will try my best for you. First thing would be to put the belt around the motor. then take the idler pulley and pull it back and put it under both parts of the belt. This will supply the tension you need to keep the belt tight. If you are having trouble getting the the pulley inplace I would need to know the brand of dryer. In most cases if it fell off it is a whirlpool or a whirlpool made Kenmore. It that case the idler will mount directly underneath the shaft of the dryer just slightly to the left of the pulley on the motor. I really hope this helped you. mca0824

Roper dryer

it hooks in the back 2 set of slots just under the motor assy, with the U- turn portion of the bracket facing to the right, so the belt will be fed through under the roller, and by applying pressure (pushing the roller to the right loop the belt around the motor shaft, and release. tension should now be applied to the belt assy and the idler will be locked in place
