How to get to bios on windows xp and vista?

All you have to do is press the DEL or F2 key (depends on the motherboard) just at start up, before windows start up. Tip : shut down your computer and start it again. Press sometimes DEL key before the windows begin loading. During this you may have on your screen some logo (manufacturer) or black screen with white letters. If not success, try the same using F2.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer. Also post me your computer or motherboard manufacturer brand / model.

Refresh all the connection on your motherboard like ATX power supply, HDD and CD/DVD ROM cables, and specially the RAM. You may have to clean the RAM as shown in the image below. c4d62f6.jpg

Error code

Apparently the XP Pro CD you are using is pre-SP2, thus causing the error. With XP RTM and SP1, you need to supply the proper SATA drivers for the chipset on the motherboard since there is no built-in support for SATA drives. You can download the drivers from http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/DownloadFile.aspx?catid=1&driverid=2214&areaid=2&LanID=0

During the XP setup you will need to press F6 to install these driver before attempting to copy the XP files to the drive. Or you could make a custom XP CD using the directions at http://maxeasyguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/preparations-for-winxp-installation-cd.html that has these SATA drivers already slipstreamed into the installation procedure.

Or if you know someone who has the WinXP Pro SP2 CD, you could borrow that for the install.
