Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Im having a ASUS G60 vx Laptop with the default 7200 rpm 320 mb hard disk . recently i bought a western digital 500 gb 5400 rpm hard disk and fixed it to the second slot of the laptop hoping to use the both hard disk. But once i boot the laptop it keeps restarting without even loading windows 7. I tested both of those hard disks on my desktop and worked fine. Any solutions ? Thank you.

First Update the BIOS so that both dont conflict
And go to the BIOS configuration page and make one masrter and other new one as secondry/slave and it would work

To go to BIOS setup option keep hitting F2 or F12 or Del key while starting the system

Sounds like the drive has croaked. You can get the data but expect to spend upwards of $1000 or more to a data recovery company.

Buy a new hard drive, and start over.
www.newegg.com You want a 3.5 ATA (not SATA) hard drive somewhere around 500 GB 7200 RPM not 5400 RPM. Something like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136109

This is indicative of the hard drives, tracking head becoming stuck or misaligned.

I would advise backing up all the data you currently need off oth disk then replacing it as it is only a matter of time become the disk becomes completely unreadable,

I have an old La Cie 160gb (maybe 5 years old?) - do you know the specs? rpm, for instance? I need something with 7200. This old one must be 5400, right?

Lacie drives have a 5400 RPM on there 160GB line nothing really changed until 500 GB to 1tB at 7200 RPM.

so the answer is 5400 RPM

Hope this helps please do rate and leave feedback.
