OneHD has DRM on it - it broadcasts a message that tells all DVR's not to record. It can't be circumvented on your unit in any way. If you still want to record it you must set up a Linux system with Myth-OS and use it to crack the protection to record it.

On the EPG (of the DMRs channels) press OK on the remote at the program you want to record. After that you can choose HDD or DVD-RAM and the quality Ep-Xp and possible subtitles (STTL). Press OK and the recording settings are saved. Note that to record 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio, you have to have that setting made from setup.

I have a panasonic DMR-EZ48V and on the HD channels it says unable to decode HD!what does this mean and how can I get the HD channels to work?thanks

Unable to decode HD is a common banner display message with these combos. It simply means the unit is not engineered to process HD signals. It is a model series limitation; not a fault as such.

This model incorporates a SD (standard definition) integrated digital tuner. It is a major pain in the proverbial not being able to receive HD, and not being able to skip them in any setup menu.

The only thing you could really do here is connect an external HD digital set top box (which would also contain SD channels) directly to the recorder's AV inputs at the rear, and then selecting the appropriate input on the combo unit to suit the source. You could then choose whether to view/record HD or SD via this method, rather than use the unit's built-in tuner.

Works just as well, with minimal error, depending on the signal strength and type of DSTB used.

It's crude, but cheaper, and does not require repairs or messy wiring.

When connected to the Panasonic DVD player I get a message when on One HD and any channel above that - "Unable to decode HD". How can I connect to these channels through the player?

You can't, without an external HD set top box connected via the recorder's inputs. HD is not a standard digital tuner format for this or any model Panasonic DVD recorder that I am aware of. Panasonic do not offer a way for the user/owner to skip the HD channels (which cannot be decoded) in these units. You can only skip analogue channels in VCRs/DVD recorders (which feature an integrated SD digital/analogue tuning system) - stupid really. It just means you need a separate box to get all the available HD channels through the unit.

Yes, 7mate (channel 73) is HD (but it isn't specified on their website or in the EPG) as is Gem ( channel 90) and of course One HD.

I assume your machine has a built in SD digital tuner.

Message appears unable to decode HD channels

DMR-EZ47V and EZ48V models do not feature a built in HD digital tuner - it is only SD - hence the reason it cannot decode HD. It is a model/design limitation; not a fault.

The tuner in this DVD recorder is a DVB-T SD tuner; it will also tune in the analog signals if you have any analog stations in the area. You will need a separate HD tuner (set-top box) to provide the HD content. I'm not sure if you can record from a set-top box with the recorder set to Line In or Input. The only input jacks are the A/V (composite) jacks.

I wish that I had better news.

Got the same problem. Happened 2 months after guarantee expired. **** machine. The only good thing is the harddrive and that is made by HITACHI not Panasonic! I go Sony next time. Panasonic quoted £200 plus to fix the problem. I only paid £220 when I bought it new.

Watching another channel while recording

Hi there! Sorry but you can't unless you have My Sky/HD recorder. The sky decoder is simply a one channel watch decoder. You can only record a sky channel and watch the channels normally provided via your VHF and UHF aerials connected to the decoder or vice versa.
My Sky fixes that although you cannot record to a dvd disc on this thing and the privilege comes at a price of course!

Hi,

It sounds as if the actual T/V channel is out of tune.
I,d suggest powering the player On.
Then using channel 8-12 on the T/V to Scan for its frequency.
When you,ve located it to the Player.
Lock the channel, then use the DVD on Channel 8-12.

Mike @ compurepair.

p.s also check the output from DVD To T/V lead has,nt come loose.
